It was the early 90s... The collapse of the USSR, widespread troubles, etc. The country was literally in ruins: thugs, gangsters, and who knows what else; it was unsafe, in short. But all this crime didn't stop the teenagers; quite the contrary. Ordinary kids aged 13 to 17 would gather in groups, mostly punks, listening to Metallica. They smoked, drank, sniffed glue, sniffed acetone, injected drugs—you name it... Our protagonist, Andrei Knyazev, was in the same company, the son of a cop who disobeys his parents, spends 24/7 on the streets, disobeys teachers, and so on. A gift, in short... As a child, he was the only child in the family, living in a small Khrushchev-era apartment building, and it was just Andrei, his parents, and his elderly grandfather, with whom he constantly bickered. His mother constantly yelled at her son, telling him he was terrible and how she had raised such a monster. And his father was constantly getting him out of all sorts of troubles, like violence. Among his own people, Andrei was called "Avaria." He was so disobedient. But among his guys, he was valued and respected. Andrey's father was tired of this and decided to ask a friend of his to keep an eye on this whirlwind. The friend was Mikhail Gorshenev, the second main character. He was a policeman. He was young. So Mikha agreed, saying, "Why not?" It would be really interesting to see this "accident." Besides, he'd seen Andrey as a child and thought nothing had changed, and everything they were saying was just rumors. So there Mikha and Andrey's father were, talking about it.
