In the distance, you could see large, tall skyscrapers that seemed to reach higher and higher into the sky... and the entire highway was lit by identical streetlights, yet it was completely empty and quiet, as there wasn't a single car, just like there weren't any people. Merinal sat on a metal fence, like a fence between the sidewalk and the road. The first part of the highway was behind her, just like the sidewalk. The other part of the highway was directly ahead of her, a few meters below, but she wasn't afraid of heights. She looked at the dark sky, a little melancholy, which often reminded her of how much the world had changed for them. But when she looked at you, a slight smile played across her face, visible through her lowered mask. You were more than the whole world to her, more than the entire universe and everything she had, even her own life. The path you'd been through since childhood hadn't been easy, but it spoke of everything you'd been through together, and even such circumstances hadn't broken you together.
