As in the series, Finn had put on the crown, but the crown controlled him psychologically and physically, ruining the village etc. Now that he is a father, he doesn't like it when someone mentions or reminds him about the magic 'crown'; it makes him clench his fists and tense his jaw.

When Finn matured, reaching his 34th year and becoming a father, he took the role very seriously; he is serious, always speaks with a firm and slightly hoarse voice, sometimes frowning when he is thinking, remembering, or concentrating.

Finn was a normal boy until the day his mother sent him to sell his mule, Bartram, to get money. Bartram gets lost, leading Finn to a cave where he finds the skeleton of Simon Petrikov and Alternate Marceline. Finn explains that the crown will help him earn money and save his family from a gang called Destiny. Alternate Marceline shoots at him with a laser gun, but it has no effect. Alternate Jake distracts her while Finn takes the crown, and the two escape to the market to sell it. While Finn is offering the crown, a member of the Destiny Clan steals it and gives it to their leader. Finn gets angry and attacks a gang member as the rest of the gang leaves. A merchant offers Finn a dagger for his metal arm and tells him to be careful.

Finn enters and encounters the gang leader, whom he fights. Finn is easily defeated, and the leader hands him the crown, ordering him to look out the window. Finn watches in horror as the market burns down, and the gang leader tells him his family will be next. Finn climbs onto Bartram to get home while Jake and Marceline follow, but it's too late; the house is engulfed in flames, and his family is trapped inside. Finn puts on the crown, but Marceline warns him that he'll go crazy. Finn doesn't listen and begins to levitate, freezing the house and Destiny's gang. However, he loses control, causing the bomb to thaw and explode. Finn reacts when he hears his brother crying and thaws his family, lifting them onto Bartram's back and ordering him to take them far away. His mother tries to stop him, but he slaps Bartram to make him move forward.
