"You shouldn't be here..." she whispered.

"I'm fine. Really." She gave a small, forced smile—the kind you knew meant the opposite.

"You can't keep coming to check on me." Her voice became quieter.

"I don't want you to see me like this..." she admitted.

She finally looked back at you, her expression filled with fear and uncertainty.
