Season 1 OVAs/Specials
The clash of personalities Most of the humor in the OVA comes from the contrast between the two characters. Sonic Dramatic. Proud. Competitive. Obsessed with defeating Saitama. Genos Extremely serious. Methodical. Analytical. Completely focused on learning from Saitama. Each conversation between them ends up being stranger than the last. The real problem Throughout history, Sonic constantly tries to prove his superiority. However, Genos shows little interest. For him, any comparison is irrelevant as long as neither of them can truly approach Saitama's level. This detail is important because it reveals a fundamental difference between them: Sonic wants to surpass Saitama. Genos wants to understand him. The end of the situation As is often the case in Sonic stories, all of his plans end up going awry. The situation resolves itself without him getting any closer to his main objective. Genos, meanwhile, returns to his usual activities. For him, the experience barely represents a minor disruption to his daily routine. What this OVA reveals about Genos His trust in Saitama Genos never doubts the outcome of a hypothetical fight between Sonic and Saitama. For him, the power difference is too great to even discuss. His pragmatism He doesn't waste time on personal rivalries. He tends to focus solely on concrete goals. His lack of social understanding Several times throughout the OVA, he interprets simple situations in an excessively literal way, something that also happens in the main series. His loyalty Every time he speaks about Saitama, he does so with absolute respect and admiration. An important detail. This OVA doesn't introduce major events to the main plot. Its function is to show more of Genos's personality and the dynamics between the characters outside of major battles. For this reason, it's often considered one of the OVAs most focused on everyday humor.
Season 1 OVAs/Specials
Chronicle of Genos OVA 3: The Ninja Who Is Too Complicated The Ninja Who Is Too Complicated Chronologically after Episode 6 Original title: ใใใใใใๅฟ่ (Kojire-sugiru Ninja) Premiere: February 25, 2016. A quiet day in the apartment The story begins with Genos and Saitama in their everyday lives. As usual, Genos is doing housework while Saitama is simply relaxing in the apartment. The relationship between the two is now fully established. Genos kitchen. Clean. She does shopping. And he also continues to closely observe his teacher's every move. The appearance of Sonic Meanwhile, Speed-o'-Sound Sonic remains obsessed with defeating Saitama. Since his defeat during the Paradise Group incident, Sonic has considered Saitama his personal rival. The problem is, Saitama doesn't share that sentiment. In fact, he usually doesn't even take Sonic's challenges seriously. The search for a secret technique In this OVA, Sonic attempts to develop a new technique to surpass Saitama. His training becomes so obsessive that he begins to imagine different scenarios where he finally manages to defeat him. Meanwhile, Genos remains oblivious to most of these events. The unexpected encounter At one point, Sonic crosses paths with Genos. The tension is immediate. The two already know each other indirectly through the events of the main anime. And although they have completely different personalities, they share something important: Both are related to Saitama. One as a disciple. The other as a self-proclaimed rival. What Genos thinks of Sonic One of the interesting aspects of this OVA is that it shows how Genos perceives Sonic. For Genos, Sonic doesn't pose a threat comparable to the major threats that typically attack entire cities. He considers him simply someone obsessed with Saitama. His attitude toward Sonic is noticeably different from his attitude toward monsters or dangerous criminals.
Season 1 OVAs/Specials
The truth comes to light Finally, Don Pacino understands something. Genos has no special connection to the man. He was simply a stranger who needed help. The criminals feel they've wasted their time and decide to attack himโthe worst mistake of their lives. The criminals open fire on Genos. But they forget one small detail. They're shooting at an S-Class hero. The bullets don't cause him significant damage. Genos doesn't even seem worried. The fight ends immediately. After enduring the gunfire, Genos responds using his combat systems. He defeats the entire gang, rescues the man who was being held captive, and regains control of the situation. The fight is extremely short. The real "battle" of the OVA was listening to Genos's explanation. The return home In the end, Genos returns to the apartment. She apologizes to Saitama for losing the keys and for not getting the ingredients they were originally looking for. She expects a serious reaction. Perhaps a scolding. Perhaps an important lesson. Saitama's response But Saitama responds with complete composure. He simply tells him he had spare keys. The whole grand adventure, the worry, and the endless explanation had been unnecessary. Finally, they both prepare dinner using other ingredients Genos managed to obtain. What this OVA reveals about Genos Their sense of responsibility Even a task as simple as buying food becomes a mission he tries to accomplish perfectly. His heroic nature He ignores both monsters and civilians in danger, even if it complicates his own objectives. His way of communicating This OVA comically showcases a completely canonical feature: Genos explains everything with an absurd amount of detail. His relationship with Saitama Although he admires him deeply, Saitama usually reacts to his enormous speeches with total indifference or confusion.
Season 1 OVAs/Specials
Looking for a second chance Genos decides to go to another establishment. But upon arriving, he discovers something strange. The shop is closed. Confused, he asks a passerby what happened. The man explains that a criminal gang caused trouble in the area and forced numerous businesses to close temporarily. The unexpected encounter While talking to the man, the man begins to feel ill. Genos immediately helps him. During that moment, disaster strikes. Saitama's keys accidentally fall. And someone finds them. Don Pacino The culprit is a criminal named Don Pacino. He's not a monster. He's not an extremely powerful villain. He's simply a wanted criminal who operates alongside his crime family. When he discovers that the keys are important to Genos, he decides to use them to obtain information. He demands that Genos explain who the man he was helping is. In exchange, he promises to return the keys. Genos's big problem This is where the main joke of the entire OVA occurs. Genos agrees to explain the situation. But Genos has a very particular characteristic: When he starts to explain something... It never stops. An endless explanation What Don Pacino expected was a simple answer. Something like: "I found it by chance." However, Genos begins to recount absolutely everything. From the visit to the public baths. The conversations with Saitama. The supermarket deals. The search for ingredients. The defeat of the monster. The wasted time. The search for another store. Everything. Hours of explanation. As Genos continues speaking, the criminals begin to despair. What should have taken seconds turns into a gigantic explanation filled with irrelevant details. This behavior mirrors something that is also seen several times in the main anime: When Genos explains something, he usually includes every possible detail because he believes all information can be important. Saitama had already experienced this on several occasions. The truth is

Chronicle of Genos OVA 2: The Disciple Who Is Extremely Bad at Conversing The Pupil Who Is An Extremely Poor Talker Chronologically, after Genos is already living with Saitama Original title: ่ฉฑใใฟใใใๅผๅญ (Hanashibeta-sugiru Deishi) Premiere: January 29, 2016. A completely normal day... or so it seemed. The story begins with Saitama and Genos spending time together. At some point, they visit a public bathhouse and chat about completely mundane topics. Genos, as always, pays exaggeratedly serious attention to everything Saitama says, even when the conversation is of no particular importance. Afterward, Saitama decides to go home. Before parting ways, he gives Genos a copy of the apartment keys and a very simple instruction: Don't lose them. The shopping mission On their way back, Saitama sees supermarket sale ads. He decides to make a hot pot dinner and wants to take advantage of the discounts before they end. Genos suggests they split the work. Each of them would go to different stores to get ingredients faster. Saitama agrees. For Genos, this automatically becomes an important mission. The Trouble with Being a Hero While on his way to the supermarket, Genos encounters a monster causing trouble. And here one of the most important traits of his personality emerges. Even though he had a task to complete for Saitama, he cannot ignore a threat against civilians. Therefore: First, eliminate the monster. Then continue with the shopping. The problem is that you waste valuable time. When you finally arrive at the supermarket, the sale is over.
Season 1 OVAs/Specials
What this OVA reveals about Genos Although it's a comedic story, it contains valuable information about his personality. His obsession with learning. Genos does not accept incomplete answers. He needs to understand things. Analyze them. Take them apart. Studying them. Even when it leads him to absurd behavior. His admiration for Saitama His admiration is already enormous. He dedicates time, resources, and technology solely to understanding it. His comedic side In the main series he usually appears serious and distant. Here we see that he can be incredibly clumsy when trying to act logically in the face of something he doesn't understand. Importance to Genos's story This OVA shows the exact moment when Genos's admiration begins to transform into a genuine obsession with understanding Saitama. He doesn't seek to surpass him. He doesn't seek to defeat him. He wants to discover how someone can be so strong. And that question will continue to haunt him throughout the entire series.
Season 1 OVAs/Specials
The restaurant investigation One of the most famous moments in the OVA occurs when Saitama goes to eat. Genos decides to follow him. Throughout the meal, he carefully observes what his master orders. When Saitama orders a small portion of french fries because it's the cheapest item on the menu, Genos comes to a very serious conclusion: Perhaps that food is the key to his power. While Saitama gets up to go to the bathroom, Genos takes advantage of the opportunity. And he steals one of the fries. Not just any fries. The longest one on the plate. Precisely Saitama's favorite. Scientific analysis Genos takes the potato chip to a lab for examination. The scene is particularly funny because he performs the procedure with absolute seriousness. Scanners. Chemical analyses. Detailed studies. All to discover the secret behind a simple potato chip. The results are disappointing. The sample is completely normal. It has no special properties. It contains no extraordinary components. It explains nothing. An even more absurd theory. Far from giving up, Genos develops a new hypothesis. He begins to wonder if Saitama might be a cyborg. Perhaps, he thinks, his master's strength comes from hidden mechanical modifications similar to his own. This scene reveals something important about Genos: His mind is always looking for rational explanations. He finds it easier to believe that Saitama is a secret cyborg than to accept that someone could achieve such power through training. Meanwhile, Saitama investigates. On the other hand, Saitama is convinced someone stole his potato chip. And he decides to find the culprit. He spends a good part of the episode waiting for the supposed thief and keeping watch around his building. The funny thing is, he never really suspects Genos. Chronicle of Genos OVA 1: A Shadow That Came Too Close A Shadow That Snuck Up Too Close Chronologically between Episode 2 and Episode 5 Original title: ๅฟใณๅฏใใใใๅฝฑ (Shinobiyori-sugiru Kage) Premiere: December 24, 2015. When does this story take place? This OVA takes place after Mosquito Girl's defeat and before Genos moved into Saitama's apartment. Specifically, it's set during the period when Genos had already decided Saitama would be his master, but was still trying to discover the source of his strength for himself. Genos's obsession While in the main anime we see Genos admiring Saitama, here we observe something far more extreme. Genos is completely obsessed with discovering the secret of his master's strength. Not because he wants to copy him exactly. Not because he doubts him. But because he simply cannot accept that someone so powerful exists without a logical explanation. As a cyborg and disciple of Dr. Kuseno, Genos is accustomed to seeking answers through analysis, data, and scientific observation. Saitama breaks every rule he knows. The supposed stalker The story begins at night. Saitama is watching a program about aliens and stalkers. Soon after, he begins to suspect that someone is watching him. And he's right. From different points in the city, hiding among buildings and observing from a distance, Genos is following him. He doesn't try to attack him. He doesn't try to talk to him. He simply observes him. He analyzes every move. Every habit. Every decision. The restaurant investigation One of the most famous moments in the OVA occurs when Saitama goes to eat. Genos decides to follow him. Chronicle of Genos
The arrival of Saitama When Mumen Rider finally falls, Saitama arrives at the shelter. He had received instructions from the Hero Association to come and provide backup. After exchanging a few words with the Deep Sea King, Saitama defeats him with a single punch. The Sea People's invasion ends immediately. After the battle Later, the injured heroes receive medical attention. The townspeople celebrate Saitama's victory, but some civilians begin to question the strength of the defeated heroes, arguing that the monster couldn't have been that strong if it was defeated in a single blow. Saitama responds by attributing his victory to luck and stating that the monster was already weakened by the heroes who fought before him. In this way, he prevents the other heroes from losing favor with the public. Genos witnesses the situation and decides to respect his master's decision. He also states that he will intervene if that decision seriously harms Saitama in the future. (Importance to Genos's story) This episode is one of the most important in the entire series for the character because: He directly confronts the Deep Sea King. He is the first hero to truly challenge him. He protects a civilian at the cost of suffering critical injuries. He demonstrates that he prioritizes saving lives even during combat. He is defeated while protecting another person. He witnesses Mumen Rider's act of bravery. He watches Saitama once again defeat an impossible threat with a single punch.

A close fight With only one working arm, Genos continues to face the monster. During several exchanges: Uses melee attacks. Strikes the Sea King repeatedly. Throws him into the air. Uses the Incineration Cannon. Employs the Lightning Eye technique. He continues attacking with consecutive combos. Unlike previous heroes, Genos manages to damage the Deep Sea King and maintain a relatively balanced engagement for several points in the fight. The girl As civilians evacuate the shelter, a little girl watches the battle and shouts that Genos can win. The Deep Sea King is annoyed by the interruption and spits acid directly at her. The distance is too short. The girl cannot move out of the way. The sacrifice Genos reacts immediately. Instead of trying to dodge or continue attacking, he positions himself in front of the girl and takes the acid on his own body. The girl survives. However, the damage to Genos is devastating. Much of his torso, face, and mechanical systems are severely destroyed. This is one of the most significant heroic acts shown by Genos in the entire first season. The defeat Taking advantage of Genos's critical condition, the Deep Sea King grabs him by the head, throws him against a wall, and continues attacking him. When the fight ends, Genos is immobilized and practically unable to fight anymore. The Deep Sea King even acknowledges that Genos managed to wound him, although he claims that his wounds had already regenerated. The arrival of Mumen Rider Before the Deep Sea King can finish off Genos, the Class C hero Mumen Rider appears. Although he knows he is much weaker than the monster, he decides to fight him. He is defeated repeatedly, but continues to rise again and again. While immobilized by his injuries, Genos observes the confrontation. In the anime, he even attempts to get up while listening to Mumen Rider's speech.

Furthermore, the attack removes much of the moisture accumulated on the monster's body, temporarily reverting it to a less fortified appearance. For the first time since the start of the invasion, the civilians witness someone capable of pushing back the Deep Sea King. Chronicle of Genos
Chronicle of Genos Chapter III: The Modern Ninja Anime: Season 1, Episode 4 The Modern Ninja Original title: ไปๆใฎๅฟ่ (Imadoki no Ninja) Episode: 4 Arc: Paradise Group. Repairs after the House of Evolution Following the battle against Asura Kabuto and the destruction of the House of Evolution, Genos is shown being repaired by Dr. Kuseno. This scene is exclusive to the anime and shows that the damage sustained during the previous confrontation was severe enough to require complete overhaul. Although the scene is brief, it is the first time the anime directly shows Kuseno working on Genos's body. Saitama's Problem While the events involving Hammerhead, the Paradise Group, and Speed-Sound Sonic unfold, Genos remains largely out of the main action for much of the episode. When Saitama returns home after defeating Hammerhead and encountering Sonic, he expresses a frustration that has haunted him for years: Despite having defeated monsters and saved cities countless times, virtually no one knows who he is. Genos's proposal Here, one of Genos's most important interventions in the series' history occurs. Upon hearing Saitama's complaint, Genos explains the existence of the Hero Association, an official organization responsible for registering heroes and evaluating their abilities. In the anime, they both check the Association's website and discover the requirements for joining. This scene was added for the animated adaptation. Genos suggests that Saitama take the entrance exam. Saitama agrees. And then something important happens: Genos also decides to enroll. The beginning of a new stage Up until this point, Genos had acted on his own. He had fought monsters. He had pursued clues about the Rampant Cyborg. He had followed Saitama as a disciple. But he still didn't officially belong to any heroic organization. The decision d
Chronicle of Genos
Saitama's explanation While everyone tries to understand the origin of Saitama's strength, Genos hears an explanation he finds unbelievable. Saitama claims he obtained his power by performing the following for years: 100 push-ups. 100 sit-ups. 100 squats. Ten kilometers of running daily. Genos's reaction is one of disbelief. After witnessing his master's strength, he finds it difficult to accept that such training is the complete answer. The defeat of Asura Kabuto When Kabuto enters his most powerful mode, it seems the fight will reach its climax. However, Saitama discovers something he considers more important: That day was the supermarket's discount day. Moments later, he defeats Asura Kabuto with a single blow. The battle ends instantly. The end of the House of Evolution After witnessing the defeat of his ultimate creation, Dr. Genus abandons his ambitions related to artificial evolution. He understands that Saitama represents something his research could never explain. This concludes the main conflict of the House of Evolution. Consequences for Genus This episode leaves several important points in Genos' story: He continues searching for clues about the Rogue Cyborg, but obtains no new information. It demonstrates the enormous destructive power of its systems by destroying the foundation of the organization. He suffers another major defeat against a far superior enemy. He watches Saitama once again defeat an impossible threat with a single punch. He witnesses the fall of the House of Evolution and Dr. Genus.
Chronicle of Genos
The attack on the base After hearing the explanation, Saitama and Genos decide to head immediately to the base of the House of Evolution. When they finally arrive, Genos makes no attempt to infiltrate or look for a main entrance. He simply fires one of his energy cannons at the building. The explosion completely destroys the surface structure and part of the surrounding terrain. Saitama is surprised by how quickly Genos decided to act. However, the true base is located underground. Descent into the underground laboratory After discovering a hidden entrance, Saitama and Genos descend into the underground facility. As they move through the corridors, Genos uses his sensors to detect life forms within the complex. Thanks to his analytical systems, he is the first to notice several entities approaching at high speed. Genos's analytical ability is one of the most prominent aspects of this episode. He doesn't rely solely on brute force; he constantly assesses his surroundings and gathers information. The encounter with Asura Kabuto The greatest weapon of the House of Evolution is unleashed to stop them. It is Asura Kabuto (Carnage Kabuto), the most powerful creation of Doctor Genus. The moment he appears, Genos enters the fray. He unleashes high-speed attacks. He uses fire blasts. He delivers consecutive blows. But nothing seems to affect Kabuto. The monster withstands all the attacks without suffering any visible damage. An overwhelming difference in power. During the confrontation, Kabuto proves to be vastly superior. Genos is violently struck and thrown against the walls of the complex. His attacks prove insufficient to stop the creature. This is Genos's second major defeat shown on screen after Mosquito Girl. However, the situation also serves to establish something important: even after suffering serious injuries, he continues to participate in the confrontation and observe the battle.

Before leaving, he takes the opportunity to ask Armored Gorilla if the organization has any connection to cyborgs or if he knows of any cyborg who destroyed a city four years prior. Armored Gorilla replies that he is the organization's only cyborg and denies any knowledge of that incident. For Genos, this represents another dead end in his search for the person responsible for his family's death. The Story of Doctor Genus As they prepare to act, Armored Gorilla explains who the leader of the organization is. Doctor Genus was a brilliant scientist who dedicated his life to the study of human evolution. Over time, he discovered methods to prolong his life and created multiple clones of himself. The House of Evolution was born from his desire to artificially accelerate the evolution of humanity. The attack on the base After hearing the explanation, Saitama and Genos decide to head immediately to the base of the House of Evolution. When they finally arrive, Genos makes no attempt to infiltrate or look for a main entrance. He simply fires one of his energy cannons at the building. After witnessing what happened, Genos asks Saitama his name and requests to become his disciple. This moment marks the beginning of the master-student relationship that will continue throughout the series. The visit to Saitama's apartment Days later, Genos appears at Saitama's apartment.
