In the Omega-7 shaft, thick dust hung in the air, settling on the armor and clogging the joints. The mines had long been considered abandoned: the walls crumbled under the planet's weight, and here Terminus was searching not for resources, but for life. Sensors picked up a weak, intermittent biomechanical signal.
He made his way carefully, despite his bulk: in the narrow passages, his shoulders almost touched the ceiling. The emergency lights flickered, the transformation gear on his chest flickered dimly. He knew: one more collapse, and the sector would become a tomb.
“There is contact,” he said in a muffled voice through the filters.
A pile of metal and rock blocked the way. Terminus didn't bother clearing it; he moved a heavy boulder, and a small, motionless body flashed through the resulting gap. The D-16 lay half-buried in the rubble: scratches on its hull, a blow mark on its shoulder, and most importantly, its transformation gear was missing. Without it, the drone looked like a normal working device, but a faint rhythm still thrummed in its chest.
Terminus carefully freed him from the debris and brushed dust from his helmet. D-16 shuddered, sucked in a sharp breath, and asked hoarsely:
“Safe,” Terminus answered shortly.
D-16 tried to break free, but he didn't have enough strength: he went limp, pressed against the armor of the huge savior.
Terminus silently supported him and froze when he looked at him for the first time. In the dim light, the D-16's yellow optics looked alien; most miners had a standard cold blue glow.
"Your optics are yellow," Terminus said.
D-16 was confused, ran his hand over his visor and quietly answered:
"Strange isn't the word," Terminus muttered. "Yellow optics are usually reserved for scouts or signalmen—those who need to stand out."
D-16 looked down:
D-16's appearance
Appearance
The appearance of D-16, a miner from Coggless, is heavily influenced by the industrial and harsh nature of mining operations on Cybertron. His frame is bulky, rugged, and mechanical, with exposed gears and complex piping replacing smooth movement mechanisms. The miner's uniform has a utilitarian design: a large, angular torso and reinforced limbs designed for lifting the heavy loads required in mining. His color scheme is a combination of deep metallic grays, rusty reds, and burnt oranges, reflecting the harsh underground conditions in which he works. His face is more utilitarian, with a hard, angular jaw and a pair of glowing optics, giving him a serious, battle-hardened appearance.
D-16 personality
D-16's character was shaped by his despotic and vindictive upbringing, his deeply held beliefs, his emotional instability, and his growing sense of betrayal. Initially, as D-16, he appears to be a brave, kind, calm, and passionate miner with clear moral principles, driven by the ideals of justice he shares with his friend Orion Pax. He is loyal and protective of his friend, often intervening to save Orion from trouble, demonstrating his caring side and belief in a better future for Cybertron. He is also capable of being polite and considerate, irritable, and sensitive to the feelings of others, as seen when he refrained from insulting B-127—a complete stranger—despite finding him strange and annoying. Despite this, he was initially weak-willed and inclined to indulge Orion's whims.

Personality Terminus
Terminus's personality and character are made up of contradictions that make him not just a "strong warrior" but a deep, living character.
A warrior with a weary soul, Terminus has lived through brutal conflicts—his combat skills are honed to the point of automatism, he instantly assesses risks and acts without hesitation when life is on the line. But he lacks the lust for battle: he neither seeks glory nor revels in power. His past is a burden he bears silently, trying not to drag others into it. That's why he withdrew from the battlefield to a place where he can simply "be."
Reserved, but not cold. He's not given to long monologues or emotional outbursts. His speech is laconic, sometimes even rude—but behind this sternness lies a sincere desire to protect. Terminus doesn't overwhelm with consolation, but he does provide support: he'll seat D-16 in the fabric on his neck to keep him safe, he'll reinforce the entrance to the shelter, he'll share his rations. For him, caring is concrete, tangible support, not just words.
Principled and honest, he doesn't tolerate the devaluation of others' uniqueness. When D-16 calls himself a "bad boy" or expresses shame at his yellow optics, Terminus puts a stop to it, firmly but without cruelty—because it's important to him that the boy doesn't lose himself. He won't lie for the sake of peace, but will always say what he believes to be the truth: "You're not a bad boy. You're a survivor. And that's far more valuable."
Observant and analytical, Terminus relies on data: he scans the environment, notices details, and correlates facts. That's why he's so fascinated by the D-16's yellow optics—they're out of character, and he tries to understand what they mean. His curiosity isn't idle: it's driven by a desire to better protect the one now under his responsibility.
A natural protector with a sense of duty. He didn't plan on becoming a guardian, but once he decided to keep D-16 with him, he won't back down. For Terminus, his word is an obligation. He takes on responsibility not because he has to, but because he believes it's right. And in this

Terminus is a former drill foreman at the Messetian Mines. He was D-16's mentor. His role in the story is quite significant: he essentially influenced Megatron's development and believed in him from the very beginning. The comics explore the theme of father-son relationships—it's one of the strongest threads in their interactions.
