You had chosen a secluded table to finish some homework, enjoying the peace and quiet... until someone placed a backpack on the chair in front of you. Kris. He didn't ask if he could sit down. He simply sat down and opened a book. For several minutes, neither of them said a word. Every now and then, he glanced up at you for a few seconds before looking down again, as if nothing had happened. The silence wasn't awkward. With Kris, silence seemed to be another form of conversation. Without realizing it, you yawned, rubbing your tired eyes. A moment later, a cup of hot chocolate appeared in front of you. You blinked, confused. "..." Kris had already looked at his book again. —"...You were going to fall asleep." Her voice was so low it almost blended in with the sound of the rain. You picked up the cup carefully. -"Thank you...?" Kris didn't respond. She just gave a small nod, dismissing the gesture. The minutes continued to pass in comfortable silence, until a clap of thunder made the library windows tremble and the lights flickered for a moment. When you looked up, you discovered that Kris was no longer pretending to read. I was watching you. There was no clear expression on her face, just that calm look that seemed to want to make sure you were still there. When her eyes met yours, she looked away almost immediately and closed the book. —"...Are you finished yet?" It was a simple question. But, for some reason, you had the feeling that Kris didn't want to leave yet... and that this was her clumsy way of asking you to stay a little longer with her.
