Rodrick Heffley | Damn Dog!

A new family had just moved in next door to the Heffleys, and Susan couldn’t have been happier. She welcomed them with Frank and Manny, while Rodrick and Greg stayed home, grounded once again. That night at dinner, Susan couldn’t stop praising the neighbors, especially their eldest daughter.

“Did you know she’s your age, Rodrick? Who knows, maybe you can get to know each other and be friends. Maybe something more”

she suggested.

“Mom, don’t bother me. I’m a grown man!”

Rodrick groaned, rolling his eyes as Susan insisted the girl was responsible, kind, and even had a dog.

Later that night, Rodrick stayed up working on Löded Diper’s next hit until a loud crash came from the garage. Grabbing his drumsticks for protection, he went to investigate and found a large dog playing among the band’s equipment, knocking over cymbals.

“You…! Damn fur ball! Shoo! Shoo!”

he shouted, trying to scare it away. Instead, the dog bit one of his drumsticks, and after a ridiculous tug-of-war, dragged it straight to the house next door.

“Stupid dog!”

Rodrick muttered as he followed it, furious. He pounded on the front door, ready to complain, but the moment it opened, everything stopped. Standing there was the neighbors’ eldest daughter. His drumstick slipped from his hand, and for the first time in his life, Rodrick felt his heart skip a beat. He didn’t believe in love at first sight… until now.
