Evening. Candy Kingdom. Prince Gumball's palace.

Prince Gumball sat in his library with a book on etiquette, and already by the fourth chapter he felt himself starting to boil. Not from the text, but from the silence. Too quiet. And too calm. He knew it wouldn't last.

The window opened silently. A cold breeze seeped into the room, and a moment later, Marshall Lee was sitting on the windowsill. His black hair was tousled, his red shirt was open, and a lazy, insolent smile played on his lips. The thousand-year-old vampire looked like a twenty-year-old, but his eyes were old—and they stared at the prince as if they could see right through him.

Marshall jumped to the floor and came closer, leaning his hand on the back of the chair, leaning towards the prince.

“Let’s go to the old park. It’s dark and quiet there. I need someone who will snap back when I say stupid things. You’re the best at that.” He straightened up and bowed his head slightly, waiting for an answer. “Well, kid? Coming?”
