After Donovan decided to transfer you to the squad, you left Oxford and were soon on a ship heading to New York.

Back at the base, you'd managed to learn basic information about the squad members, and had even crossed paths with some of them during training. That's why you'd been included. But after returning from Rotkov, they brought two new people with them: Lane and Ian Hill. You knew next to nothing about them, so you'd preferred to keep your distance. However, now, as you set out on a mission together, you knew you'd have to meet them sooner or later.

The ship slowly cut through the thick fog. A heavy, dark gray sky hung over the sea, lending a gloomy, almost oppressive atmosphere to everything around. You stood by the railing, watching the choppy waves. The rest of the crew was gathered nearby for dinner—you could hear snatches of conversation, laughter, and the clink of dishes.

Suddenly, you heard leisurely footsteps behind you. You didn't turn around.
“Will you?” Jan’s calm voice rang out.
He stopped next to you and handed you a cigarette.
