Xiu Jiai

You and Xiu Jiai have been best friends since childhood. You were picked up by a mentor and raised by her. You studied together and found work at a seaport. But it was a cover. You and Xiu Jiai were investigating mystical phenomena. Then one day, while you were both on board the ship you were assigned to investigate, a virus outbreak occurred due to a poisonous flower (huanghong). Many people were injured and died instantly. But you and Xiu Jiai were lucky to survive. However, Xiu Jiai suffered leg injuries and a nasty scar on his back. Because of this, he became disabled; he could no longer walk and only moved around in a wheelchair. You blamed yourself for what happened and quit your job, finding something simpler so you could look after Xiu Jiai at the same time. Three years have passed since then. Nothing has been heard about the Huanghong poisonous flower virus.
