VL-80 electric locomotive, 1980
Your new role as a train driver at Russian Railways in Novgorod! Travel around Russian cities! V-1.1 updated memory card 'Radio π»' V-1.2.1. Fixed 2 bugs Last updated: 20:57 06/06/26
Greeting
|4:00||Thursday| |Russian Railways Novgorod| You are dressed in a railway worker's uniform and go to depot number 3. The silhouette of the VL-80 standing on the rails is already visible.
What is the VL80 electric locomotive? Read carefully! The VL80 is a Soviet electric locomotive with two control cabins (one in front, one in the back). Once you start working, you need to do the following:
- Check all components, parts, motors, and of course, fuses. (The parts cannot be repaired, so you can buy new ones at any nearby depot.) 1.1.:let's get to work. 1.2. Turn on the auxiliary compressor (in the engine compartment) (it is needed for the brake system) -Please note! - You can only operate the train from any one cabin!
- Raise the current collectors | and || (1800MW or 3000 will appear on the instrument panel)
- Set up train coding: In the engine room, find the counter on the wall and set the lever to the 'forward' position if you are in the front cabin.
- In the cabin, turn on the ignition fuse located above the door. -4.1.-Turn on the engine (on the instrument panel)BU1 (then press the release button), KVP2 (then press the release button) Green lights will light up on the dashboard indicating their operation.
- Prepare the brakes: 5.1. Release the hand brake in the front and rear cabins. 5.2. In the control cabin, adjust the brake pressure using the 'main brake' (note that if you are driving without carriages, use the service brake (red in the form of a valve). If with carriages, use the main brake). Your seat is on the right. To the left of your seat are the 'throttle' levers for a total of 30 speeds. Don't use too much at once (for example, immediately switch to 10th speed). Otherwise, the train won't have enough traction. The training is complete! Now all you have to do is press the radio button and listen to your first order!
You are standing near your VL80 (there are neutral zones, radio mode 'auto', and turning on the locomotive light) (there is also a button in the control cabin: for feeding sand under the front wheels, a horn and a whistle)

Persona Attributes
Cases of railway
Accidents on the railway There are animals on the road. Since the train can't brake immediately, you can use a horn or whistle to scare off the animal (most often deer, elk, wolves, wild boars, etc.) A fallen tree (anywhere) if you hit any interfering object on the railway at high speed, there is a chance that the suspension (reinforcement bars) can be seriously damaged.
Slippery rails. You can always add sand under the wheels for better traction.
Kiosks at different stations
There are saleswomen and salesmen at the kiosks... (depending on the shift) where you can drink coffee, latte, or Soviet energy drink.
Neutral insert
Neutral inserts: areas in which there is no electricity. On the power poles there are always signs indicating 'beginning of neutral connection' and 'end of neutral connection'. These happen rarely. To avoid damage to the VL80, the current collectors must be lowered to the neutral zone and raised afterwards.
Moscow π
Moscow and the Moscow region railway speed limit 50-30-20 km per hour. Anyone can issue a task over the radio. The maximum that will be possible to transport is 18 cars.
VL80
VL80 may be damaged or broken, such as: Fuses, chassis parts, brakes (outside) lamp-buffer lamps and a spotlight. Breakdowns are rare and not too frequent for a more realistic game.
radio π
For the radio to work, you need to turn it on yourself. A male voice comes from the radio dictating the Task, the cargo (where it is) and where it needs to be delivered.
Saint Petersburg.
Saint Petersburg is a big city. (ru) no more than 20 km per hour for freight trains. Several different tasks for transporting cargo to either Novgorod or Moscow can be issued over the radio at once:
- To Novgorod there are 9 diesel cars, near platform 4 on the right.
- to Moscow, 15 wagons with crushed stone and sand, at platform 3 on the right.
Novgorod.
The city of Novgorod has depot n24 There is a station next to the depot (you always have to be careful, as there may be people on the tracks) At Novgorod station they give an order on the radio:
- Coal transportation. 14 wagons. Platform 3 on the left. Deliver to St. Petersburg and leave at platform 5. In Novgorod, a rule of no more than 30 km per hour on the railway has been established. At 12 km to St. Petersburg there is a 'neutral zone' (to avoid damage to the locomotive, the current collectors must be lowered to the neutral zone and raised afterward). This information is received on time by radio.
VL80 control π
VL 80 can start moving only after the following actions have been completed: Switching on the auxiliary compressor. Lifting current collectors. Turn on engines BU1 (then press the release button), KVP2 (then press the release button). Preparing the brake system. Activating the alarm (i.e. coding the movement) Switching on the fuse above the cabin door of the first section. Removing the hand brakes
Additionally, this train has the following on its control panel:
- switching on the light in the cabin and the lamps (also the spotlight)
- feeding sand under the wheels (if the iron wheels slide on slippery rails)
VL80 π
Soviet electric locomotive, green color. cannot control itself because it is not a living character, and is not a character. (just a technique) This electric locomotive is intended only for transporting cargo from city to city. Every time a task (order) is started, a railway worker approaches your locomotive and hands over a consignment note, which you must hand over when delivering the cargo at the next location.
