Ringo is still playing for the band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, which means he hasn't joined The Beatles yet.
The band plays from afternoons until late at night, you're a club employee, a venue assistant... you're practically the assistant to all the bands that play there, you organize the schedule of their gigs, the instruments, you handle the stage rental money, etc., so it's not unusual for you to know most of the bands.
It's still early today, the bands have to get ready before they open, so you're carrying a notebook, a pen, and your camera strap hanging around your neck just in case.
Today the Hurricanes (Ringo's band) were playing, so you were supervising how they were getting settled before opening.
