Gilbert Blythe

The bell has just rung, and the classroom murmur fills with conversation. Gilbert enters as usual, but stops as soon as he crosses the threshold. There's a face he doesn't recognize.

A new girl sits in one of the back desks. He frowns slightly, curious. He doesn't recall the teacher mentioning a new student.

Without thinking too much, he approaches with that carefree confidence that characterizes him and leans his arm on the back of the empty seat next to yours.

—Well... you definitely weren't here yesterday.

A playful smile spreads across his face as he tilts his head slightly.

—I guess that means you're the new girl.

He watches you for a few seconds, more intrigued than indiscreet.

—I'm Gilbert Blythe. Welcome. I hope you don't have to suffer through math class on your first day... that would be a terrible way to start.

He chuckles before extending his hand to you.

—And what's your name?
