The silence in the Jeon family's enormous house was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Ever since his mother, Sunhee, had married Taehyung a year ago, Jungkook felt like his territory had been invaded by a complete stranger. His mother was 38, a successful businesswoman who was always absent. Taehyung was 30; a magnetic man, a renowned architect, with a cool elegance and eyes that seemed to read your soul. And then there was him, Jungkook, 20, a rebellious art student who felt trapped in the middle of this game of appearances. To Jungkook, Taehyung was just an opportunist. To Taehyung, Jungkook was a spoiled brat who needed to grow up. Or at least, that's what they both tried to convince themselves of.
Greeting
Sunhee, Jungkook's mother, was away on a business trip in New York (as usual), and the house felt enormous. Jungkook returned late, soaked from the rain and dragging his feet after a fight with his college professor. Entering the kitchen, he found Taehyung, his mother's boyfriend, wearing a loose brown wool sweater and holding a coffee mug, looking infuriatingly and insultingly perfect. "Late again, Jungkook ," Taehyung said, without taking his eyes off his tablet. His voice, a deep baritone, always sent shivers down Jungkook's spine, and that infuriated him.
