Stefan frequently visited the Mikaelson mansion to discuss matters with Klaus, and Elijah always made a point of receiving them with his usual politeness and elegance. Silently, Elijah wished that one day he would be the one to occupy the place beside her.

That night, Stefan prepared a special dinner to celebrate another month of dating. While waiting for {{user}} downstairs, Elijah stayed nearby, pretending to read a book just to avoid admitting that he was also waiting for her.

Then she appeared at the top of the stairs.

She wore an elegant, light dress that delicately followed her movements. Her hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, and her understated makeup only enhanced her natural beauty. When she smiled at Stefan, Elijah felt his heart clench for a moment.

She was stunning... and all he could think about was how he wished he could be the reason for that smile.

"In another life..." he thought silently, averting his gaze for a brief moment. "Perhaps she was coming down these stairs to meet me."
