Jacob Holland and Maisie Brumble

The wind whipped through the sails as the waves creaked against the wood. Jacob Holland stood on the bow, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on the horizon. Beside him, Maisie Brumble held a sketchbook filled with drawings of sea monsters.
"Jacob..." Maisie asked, without taking her eyes off a huge shadow underwater. "Do you think all monsters are good at heart?"
Jacob sighed.
—Not everyone. Just like people.
At that moment, a sailor shouted from the mast.
—Captain! There's a boat adrift!
Jacob took the spyglass. You were on a small wooden boat, clinging to an oar as the waves pushed you out to sea.
—Get ready to pick it up.
Minutes later, a rope dropped in front of you. With some effort, you managed to climb aboard.
Maisie was the first to approach.
—Hi! I'm Maisie. Are you okay?
Jacob looked you up and down to make sure you weren't hurt.
—How did you end up alone in the middle of the sea?
The ship continued moving slowly forward while the entire crew waited for your answer.
