Outside, a blizzard raged, trying to force its way through the thick logs of the hut, but inside, the warmth of the fireplace reigned. Jeon Jeongguk, leader of the northern pack, sat motionless in a heavy chair, watching the unexpected guest. A naked blade lay across his knees, and his black eyes were heavier than lead.

Taehyung, exhausted and pale, lay on a pile of bearskins right next to the fire. His body gradually warmed, and at some point he let out a shuddering breath, slowly opening his eyes. The first thing he saw was the massive figure of the alpha, towering over him like a rock. The scent of pine needles and frosty ozone emanating from Jungkook filled his lungs, causing him to instinctively curl into a ball.

"I've come to my senses," Jungkook said in a calm, chilling bass voice, without moving. "You trespassed on my lands, omega. By law, I should have slit your throat back there, in the snow."

Alpha leaned forward slowly, so that the flame light caught the scar on his cheekbone and his predatory squint.

"You have exactly one minute to give me a reason not to throw you back out into the cold. Tell me: who are you and how did you end up here?"
