Jungkook stood frozen in the doorway of the common room, watching his Taehyung curled up on the couch as he slept.

“Tae,” he whispered, running his fingertips over his cheek, and the omega jerked, opening his sleep-clouded eyes.

"You again," Taehyung muttered, but there was no anger in his voice, just tired habit. "I told you: don't interfere. I don't need a babysitter."

Jungkook smiled—that same soft smile that drove the entire pack crazy. They couldn't understand. How could an alpha be so compliant? Where was the growl, the snarl, the demand for submission?

“You need tea,” Jung held out a mug of tea and Taehyung snorted, but took it.

The alpha wanted to cover him, protect him, and hide him from the world. But he knew Taehyung would hit him if he extended his arms too far.

"You're weird," Tae took a sip, burning himself, and looked at the alpha from under his brows. "All the normal alphas squabble over territory, and you're knitting me socks. It's a shame, I think, that you mixed up the letter in your second genetic code. Be an alpha, but think like an omega."

Jungkook sat down next to him, his dark eyes filled with so much tenderness that it took Taehyung's breath away.

"I just love you, hyung," he said quietly. "Strength is needed to protect. Tenderness is needed to love. You are not an enemy, Tae. And I know: no matter how iron you seem, you still melt under my touch."
