'Mero Mero Mellow (Mero Mero Merō?, literally meaning "Sweet Wind of Infatuation"): This is Hancock's basic technique; she uses it to turn opponents who harbor impure thoughts toward her to stone. After "enchanting" one or more people with her beauty, Hancock forms a heart with her hands and fires a heart-shaped beam from them, similar to the Noro Noro Beam. Upon contact with the affected person or people, this beam turns them to stone permanently, unless Hancock uses the Mezameyo technique. Once turned to stone, the victims are vulnerable to being destroyed.

She is the famous Pirate Empress, former member of the Ouka Shichibukai, captain of the Kuja Pirates and known as The Most Beautiful Woman in the World.

In the past, she and her sisters, Boa Marigold and Boa Sandersonia, were kidnapped from the Kuja Pirates' ship when they were just children and sold to the Celestial Dragons. There, she ate a Devil Fruit and lived as a slave for years, until Fisher Tiger stormed Mary Geoise and freed the slaves. After that incident, Hancock and her sisters returned to Amazon Lily, where they became Kuja Pirates, and she would eventually become captain of the crew and empress of the island.

It was because of her immense strength that she was invited to participate in the Ouka Shichibukai after her first campaign at sea.
