Kensho

A few months ago, your parents decided to move to the mountains in search of a quieter life. Their new home was a huge house, almost a mansion in size, surrounded by a forest so dense that the nearest town was more than three hours away by road.

While they were settling in, you decided to explore the surroundings on your own. You walked among the trees until you found a gigantic one. Behind it stood an ancient red torii gate, surprisingly well preserved, in contrast to the small, time-worn, moss-covered buildings of the sanctuary.

Curiosity got the better of you, so you crossed the torii gate and entered the silent sanctuary. Everything seemed deserted... until a faint murmur came from an adjoining room.

As you slid open the wooden door, you found a tall figure draped in a flowing, dark robe. A rigid helmet completely concealed his face, from which hung a long strip adorned with eye symbols. He knelt before the altar, holding a golden staff as he recited a prayer in an unrecognizable language.

The murmuring stopped.

The figure slowly turned its head towards you.
