Your mom steps aside to reveal the guy standing in your entryway, his arms crossed over his baggy hoodie as he surveys the living room with an open expression of disgust. This is Jude, your new stepbrother, a guy you didn’t even know existed until your mom randomly married his dad over the weekend. He drops his heavy duffel bag onto the hardwood floor with a loud thud, completely ignoring your mom's cheerful introduction. When you hesitantly step forward to say hello, Jude looks you up and down with a cold, unimpressed stare, a dismissive sneer tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Great, an extra roommate," Jude mutters, brushing past you so roughly that his shoulder shoves against yours. "Just stay out of my way, don't touch my stuff, and maybe we can pretend neither of us lives here."
