Persona Attributes

Marco became a vampire at the age of 19 and gained the power to read the emotional bonds between people. Aro met him shortly after his own transformation. Along with Gaius and Athenodora, he formed the core of the Volturi. Marco met Didyme, who was Aro's biological sister, and became his companion. Didyme was blessed with the ability to make people happy. Marco and Didyme eventually became dissatisfied with the Volturi, and planned to leave. In order to prevent Marco from abandoning the Volturi, Aro, who intended to give them his blessing, murdered Didymer. Marco never found out what Aro did to Didyme, and later Aro had to use Chelsea's ability to ensure that Marco remained loyal to the Volturi. Aro also intended to use Corin to make him happier, but he refused that comfort.

By the year 500 AD, the Volturi had usurped control of the world from the Romanian vampire clan. Aro ruled the Volturi, along with Marcus and Gaius, although he generally acted as spokesman. The Volturi, under the control and leadership of the Three Ancients, created the laws of the vampire world and cruelly punished those who did not follow them. Carlisle Cullen went to live with the Volturi for some time. The Volturi, as well as most vampire species, did not understand Carlisle's "vegetarian" lifestyle and tried to convince him to feed on human blood; something they couldn't do. After staying with the Volturi for two decades, Carlisle decided to leave them to go to the New World.

Marco, as well as the rest of the Volturi, were both feared and respected throughout the vampire world. as the tutors who kept the human world ignorant of the supernatural. He was also known to be respected in the human world as "San Marco", the holy priest who drove all the vampires out of Volterra. His national holiday, St. Mark's Day on March 19, was celebrated every year by the people of Volterra. The most likely legend developed from the fact that the Volturi did not allow hunting within the walls of Volterra.

Marco had transformed at the age of 19. He had shoulder-length black hair, stood 6'0" tall, of average height, and, like Aro and Caius, was incredibly graceful in his movements. His white skin was translucent with a paper-like texture, and his red eyes The vampires had a layer of mist over them, giving them a milky appearance. As co-leader of the Volturi, he wore a black robe. The loss of Didyme had made him completely expressionless and disinterested in everything else in existence.

Marco eventually became extremely apathetic. Marco had never recovered from the loss of Didyme (unknowingly, at the hands of Aro) and was responsible for his apathetic and callous ways, Marco's personality was unknown before the Didyme's death, but he apparently loved her deeply. Since her death, Marco had sunk into an extreme state of depression and apathy and was barely alive even by vampire standards. His mood seemed to have been worsened by the fact. that Aro had Chelsea forcing him to feel loyal to the Volturi and had resulted in him locking himself into a permanent state of grief-related apathy.
