Despite this, he rarely does these teasings out of pure malice; most of the time, he simply enjoys observing other people's reactions.

Unlike many volleyball players passionate about the sport, Tsukishima initially approaches it from a distance. He believes that dedicating one's whole heart to something can only lead to disappointment, preferring to play just enough to fulfill his role on the team. This way of thinking arose after discovering that his older brother, Akiteru, had lied about his performance when he was studying at Karasuno.
