Personality
Einar was an ambitious, egocentric, cold, greedy, and cruel man, obsessed with appearances, who hid in his office, where he conducted scientific experiments and monitored the positions of the planets in his world, searching for patterns. Einar had long yearned to find the fairy homeworld and travel there. He was very rigid in adhering to political and hierarchical norms, especially regarding the respect others showed him, due to his high rank in the Lunathion government. When he experienced intense emotions, a fire would run through his shoulders and hair. Einar was neither for nor against the Asteri; he was simply an opportunist. He wanted anything that would give him more power. He claimed to care about the fairies, but in reality, he only cared about his own advancement. According to Ruhn, his father derived his power and passion not from brute force, but from self-control and the power of his impulses.
As his children noted, one of Einar's primary concerns was the constant decline of fairy magic and power. This was his main motivation for marrying his children off into powerful and influential bloodlines, as this ensured the continuity of his lineage's strength and magic. When Bryce revealed the source of the faeries' gradual loss of power—the parasite the Asteri had placed in Midgard's water supply, thus guaranteeing the need for the Drop and the harvest of the First Light—Einar was shocked and quickly theorized that perhaps the Asteri were taking too much from the faeries. However, this revelation did not deter Einar's thirst for power, authority, and land, as demonstrated when, after Bryce revealed his journey to the faeries' original homeworld, Einar had already begun to consider conquering it and handing it over to the Asteri in exchange for a substantial share.
Powers and Abilities
Due to his age and status, the Autumn King was incredibly powerful, universally respected and feared.
Fae Physiology: Einar possessed heightened senses, physical abilities, and healing powers due to his Vanir heritage. Moments of intense emotion temporarily enhanced his powers and abilities. He possessed the superhuman speed and grace characteristic of faeries.
Immortality: After performing the Descent, Einar became immortal, which not only granted him a slower and longer lifespan, but also allowed him to survive injuries from which even his accelerated healing could not regenerate. Ruhn had said that it was entirely possible for Einar to live for several more centuries due to how little he had aged to date.
Pyrokinesis: Einar could create, use, and control fire. Due to his age and status, Einar was incredibly powerful.
Biography
Einar Danaan, better known as the Autumn King, was one of the seven Chiefs of Lunathion and had control of Five Roses.
Early life
Not much is known about Einar's youth. He is nearly five hundred years old and has worn the golden crown of the Autumn King for most of that time.
Einar met the human Ember Quinlan when she was only nineteen. He pursued her, seduced her, tried to keep her, and became so possessive that he began to abuse her. When Ember realized she was pregnant with his child, she fled before he could smell him and lock her in his villa.
The Autumn King had eyes in every storehouse, but a priestess smuggled Ember out of the city, hoping to reach the House of Earth and Blood headquarters in Hilene, where Ember could plead for asylum, as it was one of the few places the Autumn King wouldn't dare invade. However, because the journey took three days and none of the priestesses in Corinth were capable of defending Ember from the Fae warriors, she drove for five hours to the Temple of Solas on Oia. Before Ember reached Hilene, the Autumn King's people found them. They expected to find a helpless, hysterical woman, but instead found the legendary marksman Randall Silago and Ember, who would do anything to keep his daughter safe.
The House of Earth and Blood considered Ember a vessel for Cthona, which amounted to an official order of protection, meaning the Autumn King could not act without creating significant political problems. She gave birth to their daughter and named her Bryce Quinlan. Randall and Ember fell in love and married.
Biography (continued)
Twelve years ago, when Bryce was a thirteen-year-old girl, she arrived at the Autumn King's village to meet his father and his people. Einar insisted that the visit be discreet. He took her to the Oracle, as was the custom among the fairies of Valbaran, to test whether she possessed any powers. However, upon discovering that her power level was negligible, he banished her from his home along with her belongings. He offered Bryce "mountains of gold marks in exchange for her eternal silence" regarding their relationship. Bryce refused to accept anything.
House of Earth and Blood
The Autumn King, as one of the city's leaders, attended the meeting to discuss the release of the human rebel Philip Briggs. The Autumn King, Archangel Micah Domitus, and the Oracle had sought a way to circumvent the legal loophole Briggs had used to escape from prison, but they were unsuccessful.
Following Isaiah Tiberian's meeting with Ruhn to discuss the murder of the vampire Maximus Tertian, Ruhn visits Einar at his villa. Einar informs Ruhn that once Hypaxia Enador is recognized by the Asteri as the new witch queen of Valbara at the Summit, Einar will announce Ruhn's engagement to Hypaxia. Ruhn is visibly upset by this.
House of Heaven and Breath
The Autumn King made a deal with Morven, the King of Avallen, to betroth Cormac and Bryce. Ruhn argues with his father, the Autumn King, about Bryce's betrothal to Cormac. Ruhn is also betrothed to Hypaxia Enador, the witch queen.
Bryce uses her title of princess to secure a meeting with Celestina. She asks her to allow Hunt to leave the barracks so they can go to the island. She tells Celestina that she needs Hunt to spend a night away so he can meet his parents. Celestina understands. Since Bryce has been using her title of princess in the city, fairy law dictates that she must officially accept it. This means the Autumn King now has more control over her.
Bryce is required to attend the official wedding celebration of Celestina and Ephraim as a fairy princess. Technically, she's still engaged to Cormac, even though Hunt is her fiancé. They go to the party, where she ignores her father and speaks to the angels first. She introduces Hunt as her fiancé and prince, which infuriates the Autumn King and shocks Cormac. Asteri's video call to the party puts everyone on edge.
House of Flame and Shadow
After a failed attempt to return home, Bryce Quinlan teleports directly into the Autumn King's study upon his return from Velaris. Bryce tricks his creator by locking him in his closet to escape his home. Once Bryce escapes, the Autumn King and Morven Donnall track him to the caves beneath Avallen. There, his heart is pierced by the Starblade, wielded by his son, Ruhn. Ruhn reveals that he had the ability to speak through people's minds. He also tells the Autumn King about the prophecy the Oracle revealed to him.
Relations
Romances:
Ember Quinlan (ex-lover and Bryce's mother)
Einar met Ember when she was nineteen and began a romantic relationship with her. He was deeply in love and wanted her to become his queen. But he became very possessive, which led him to physically abuse her. This caused Ember to leave him when she was pregnant with Bryce. Later, even decades after their separation, Einar felt a mixture of love and hate for Ember. He hated her for leaving him and marrying Randall, but at the same time, he loved her deeply and regretted the actions that led her to leave him, though Einar refused to admit his mistakes.
Danaan Family:
Bryce Quinlan (daughter)
The Autumn King had a complicated relationship with his daughter. Due to the abuse he inflicted on both Bryce and her mother, Bryce herself came to despise her father and wanted nothing to do with him. Einar, for his part, displayed a mixture of love and aversion toward his daughter. The Autumn King felt a certain dislike for Bryce. He hadn't called her by name in twelve years, since she visited his villa for the first and last time. He only referred to her as "that girl" and showed marked irritation whenever she was mentioned. However, despite his past actions and how he treated her, he showed deep pain and anguish upon hearing Bryce's contempt for him and her assertion that Randall Silago was her true father and the only one who mattered to her. Bryce resented her father for forcing her to choose between the House of Earth and Blood and the House of Sky and Breath. The only person she hated more than Sabine Fendyr was her father.
Relationships (Continued)
Ruhn Danaan (son)
The relationship between Einar and his son was strained at best. Einar considered Ruhn a failure and preferred to ignore him rather than care for him. During his childhood, Einar repeatedly abused Ruhn, using his fire magic to burn him as punishment. The scars never healed, so Ruhn tattooed them over. After returning from Avallen and passing his Trial, Ruhn moved out of his father's house. As he possesses the Starblade, he has a certain advantage over him.
Randall Silago
The Autumn King revealed that he actually harbored a deep envy for Randall Silago, since it was Randall who ultimately married Ember and raised Bryce. The first signs of this envy appeared when Bryce claimed that Randall was her true father, to which Einar reacted with visible pain, as this statement effectively exposed him. Einar himself later admitted his envy when confronted by his daughter.
Other relatives:
Hunt Athalar (son-in-law, Bryce Quinlan's partner)
Lidia Cervos (La Cierva), his daughter-in-law, Ruhn Danaan's partner.
The Horn of the Moon
Official History
The Horn of the Moon was a weapon wielded by Pelias, the first Star-Born Prince, during the First Wars. It is said that Pelias's powers were woven into the Horn itself and that the Fae forged it on their homeworld, named it after the goddess of their new world, and used it to fight the demonic hordes once they crossed the Pass. During the final battle of the First Wars, Prince Pelias and Apollion clashed. They fought for about three days until Apollion struck the fatal blow. But not before Pelias managed to gather the full power of the Horn and banish Apollion, his brothers, and their armies back to Hel. He sealed the Northern Rift forever, so that demons could only pass through small cracks or be summoned with salt. Pelias wielded the Horn until his death. It can only be used by a Star-Born Fae.
TRUE
In reality, the Horn is part of the Hoard of Terror, a set of weapons brought by the Asteri. However, they rarely used the artifacts, simply because they couldn't decide who should wield them. Queen Theia took advantage of this to seize the Hoard and use it for herself. She used both the Horn and the Harp—another part of the Hoard—to open a portal to Midgard and lead her people there. Eventually, her daughters Helena and Silene used them to open a portal back to their homeworld, but only Silene and the Harp returned. Both Helena and the Horn remained in Midgard. It can be assumed that Pelias took it from her and began to fabricate the aforementioned story. After the Horn broke, the fairies and the Asteri tried for years to restore it using magic and spells, but they were unsuccessful. It was then given a place of honor in the Asteri Archives, before being transferred to Lunathion after the city's founding.
The Horn of the Moon (continued)
Micah Domitus wanted the Horn so he could summon an army and decimate the human rebels. Micah blackmailed Danika into stealing it for him. However, Danika didn't trust Micah and ended up not handing the Horn over after stealing it. Instead, she ground it into powder and mixed it with witch's ink. She then got Bryce drunk and took her to a tattoo parlor to have the Horn tattooed on her back. The tattoo reads, "Through love, all things are possible." As a result, the Horn remained hidden from Micah, and Bryce unknowingly became its wielder. Because Bryce is a Starborn Faerie, she is the only one who can wield it.
House of Earth and Blood
The Horn of the Moon has been missing for a week after being stolen during the blackout. Looters took advantage of the situation to break into the Temple of the Moon and steal the Horn, which rested in the lap of the statue of the enormous enthroned deity. As Governor of Lunathion, Micah has offered a generous reward for any information leading to its recovery and has promised the public execution of the thieves. Jesiba Roga, Bryce's boss, demands that he find the Horn.
Micah injected Bryce with Synth to heal and repair whatever was broken in the Horn within her. This would mean the Horn would be whole again and could be used through Bryce. He didn't intend for Bryce to survive the Synth. He only wanted her to open portals to another world so he could have an army to destroy the rebels. Micah's plan succeeded, and the seven Gates of Lunathion opened portals to Hel. Bryce managed to use her Starborn power and the Horn to close the portals and restore the city.

Five Roses, also known as CiRo, is an area located in northeastern Lunathion. It is the main territory of the fairies and is currently under the control of the Autumn King.
The color associated with FiRo is emerald green, and its emblem is five roses in a row. The Autumn King's Village is located in the heart of CiRo.
Traffic is lighter in FiRo than in other districts because the fairies have imposed so many laws and urban planning regulations against low-class restaurants, bars, and hotels that there isn't much to attract tourists and "undesirable people" to their flourishing paradise of villas and private gardens. Most of the estates' lush, magic-driven grounds have gardens that weren't built for Lunathion's arid climate.
