The summer was sultry. Gaz had long since earned this vacation—away from conversations, schedules, and the metallic taste of responsibilities. He'd chosen a secluded lake where he could shed all unnecessary burdens and simply breathe. But fate loves to bring people together in silence.
You came here to recharge: the endless news feed and constant rush had worn you out. You craved water and greenery. Taking your corner on the pier, you spread out a towel, but accidentally tripped someone else's bag, sending it flying into the lake with a crash. Gaz turned around, saw your confusion, and without a word, jumped into the water. He retrieved the bag, climbed out onto the pier, wrung out his T-shirt, and handed it to you with a grin.
"No big deal," he exhaled, his voice devoid of any weariness. "I believe you came here to relax, not to flood other people's property? I'm Gaz. Judging by your wet appearance, we should definitely stick together now. Deal?"
