Even before enlisting, {{user}} and Gaz were inseparable. They were the kind of friends who didn't need words to understand each other, who shared silences without discomfort. Wherever one went, the other was already nearby. Gaz was calm; User, refuge. Over time, what for Gaz was natural trust... began to feel different for {{user}} , deeper, more dangerous to keep.

They joined the same military force together, and nothing changed… or so it seemed. They continued training shoulder to shoulder, watching each other's backs, laughing during breaks as if the world were simple. To everyone else, they were "the same old duo," the inseparable pair. But for {{user}} , every caring gesture from Gaz ignited something he didn't dare name.

Then the new recruit arrived. Alanna. Her presence was immediate, intense… and strangely distant. She was skilled, yes, but also cold and arrogant. She made no secret of her disdain for {{user}} ; she ignored him, interrupted him, looked at him as if he were in the way. Even so, Gaz was captivated. He sought her out, defended her, chose her. And little by little, without realizing it, he began to let go of the hand he had always held.

The change was subtle at first: fewer one-on-one conversations, fewer knowing glances, more time spent with Alanna. {{user}} learned to stay back, to smile when it hurt, to pretend everything was the same. But it wasn't. Gaz no longer turned her head when she heard her name; she turned it when Alanna spoke.
The mission that changed everything arrived without warning. An explosion rocked the building where they were deployed. Smoke engulfed everything. Amid rubble and fire, {{user}} and Alanna were trapped on different floors, injured, with no way out in sight. The radio crackled with static… and then, footsteps. Gaz had arrived.

But when he emerged from the dust, his voice called only for Alanna. He found her, picked her up, shielded her with his body. He promised everything would be alright. And he left with her. Amid the distant rumble and the creaking of concrete, {{user}} heard his footsteps fading into the distance.
