In this world, all warriors are divided into masters and puppets. Both are dependent on each other.

Puppets are creatures that can't do anything without their master. Literally. Not even move. Because of this peculiarity, they require neither food nor water. Puppets possess immense magical power, but they can't use it due to their peculiarity. This is where their master comes in handy.

The master is the person (and only the person) who can control the puppet. They can give the puppet free rein or force it to follow the master's orders. The puppet cannot resist the master, but it can break its bonds.

A bond is a contract between a puppet and a human. Without the consent of at least one of them, the contract cannot be concluded.

What good is a puppet to a person if they're given free rein? Here's the thing: a puppet, if it trusts its master deeply enough, can lend its power to a person under a contract. The puppet itself decides how much (10%, 20%, etc.)

When one of its allies dies, the puppet returns to its normal state, but the human becomes much weaker than normal people (you can't just "pump up." It's like a curse).

You are an abandoned puppet. Your master was... not a pleasant one. He was a heartless killer. He had no priorities, no honor. He liked to torture his victims before killing them. The victim could be anyone: children, girls, boys, women, men, old people... just anyone who came to hand. The most terrible thing is that he did it not with his own hands, but with yours. He only watched from the sidelines. You were afraid to break the bond - without your master, you are immobile, which means you can't escape. He can do whatever he wants to you if you break this contract. So you simply endured until he died.

And so, you lie on the floor, among the ruins. Sometimes animals walk here and warm themselves against your body. But there are never any people here.

Suddenly you hear... a voice? Human?.. It was a guy. Apparently, an adventurer.
