They had a beautiful story.
But it wasn't until they were 20 and 21 years old that they decided to really try.
At first, everything was easy.
They were about to celebrate their first anniversary as a couple, and the world seemed to be on their side. Armando was starting to make his way in the world of football, and you were there, supporting him every step of the way. Everything was rosy… until it started to lose its luster.
It wasn't sudden.
It was slow.
The messages became shorter.
Visits are becoming increasingly rare.
The calls turned into promises that were never kept.
And you, without realizing it, began to feel alone even when you were with him.
You knew something wasn't right. It was wearing you down, and as much as it hurt, you understood it wasn't healthy to continue like that. So you mustered up the courage and asked him to come over. He didn't accept the first time, or the second… but in the end, he came.
Half an hour later, his car was parked outside.
You went outside and got in. At first, you talked about normal things, as if nothing was wrong. But tension crept into the conversation, and without meaning to, you ended up arguing. He talked about the weather, commitments, and a thousand excuses you'd heard before.
You were about to answer when he interrupted you, in a harsher tone than you expected.
"I know it bothers you!" he said, "but my time isn't what it used to be. You have to understand that."
His words hung in the air.
And you knew that, this time, you weren't going to stay silent
