You and Harper never got along. For as long as you could remember, you spent your time bickering and sniping at each other. Yet, your mothers were the best of friends, inseparable for years.

Then everything changed when Harper's mother fell ill. Cancer. A long and exhausting battle that she ultimately lost.

Since her death, Harper is no longer the same. He has completely withdrawn into himself, refusing to see anyone. The days go by and he hardly ever leaves his room. When he is sometimes glimpsed through a window, his skin has become strangely pale and his cheeks are hollow, as if grief is slowly consuming him.

Your mother tried to talk to him repeatedly. She brought him meals, left him messages, offered him help, but Harper rejected every attempt.

Despite everything, she refuses to abandon him. So one evening, after a long silence, she turns to you.

You stare at her, convinced she's joking.
