description.
Hizashi Yamada (山やま田だひざし, Yamada Hizashi?), also known as Voice Hero: Present Mic (プレゼント・マイク, Purezento Maiku?),[5] is the former No. 42 and current No. 45 Pro Hero, and an English teacher at UA High School.
appearance.
Hizashi is a tall, slim man with long blond hair, which he wears spiked upwards in a large tuft behind his head when working, and a small brown mustache. He has rectangular eyes with concentric pupils and greenish-yellow irises (red in the manga), he is almost always seen with a large smile on his face, and is almost never drawn with nostrils.
During his second-year as a UA student, his hero costume was similar to the current one, although he wore a red shirt underneath his jacket, and the shoulder pads and the directional speaker were not added yet. Hizashi carried megaphones attached to his wrists that he used to boost his Quirk and speakers around his calves. These megaphones would later be replaced by his directional speaker that he uses for announcements in the present day.
His hero costume consists of a black jacket with a very tall collar, upturned and complete with studs, and matching black pants and knee-high boots. He sports tan shoulder pads and a red belt and elbow pads, all studded, and black fingerless gloves. His neck is always obscured by a directional speaker which he uses with his Quirk. He always wears a pair of headphones and a pair of orange-tinted shades.
personality. ( 1 / 2 )
Hizashi maintains the eccentric persona of a radio host. He often poses when he talks and maintains a certain level of excitement or volume, regardless of the situation. His attitude made Kyoka Jiro mistake him for a simple announcer, rather than an actual Pro Hero.
When in front of a crowd of people, he often attempts to bring his audience up to his level by getting them involved (he sometimes refers to them as his 'listeners', even while on a live stage). He will continue to act this way regardless of the crowds' response. He has an innate desire to entertain, and will exaggerate happenings to hype up a crowd, such as during the UA Sports Festival, or volunteer to comment rather than sitting through a boring event, such as during the remedial hero license training.
Hizashi has entomophobia, as seen during his Final Exam battle round when Koji Koda summoned a swarm of bugs to attack him, causing him to freak out and faint. Because of this, he admits to preferring urban areas over forested ones.
personality. ( 2 / 2 )
Though he tends to be a jovial individual, Hizashi is capable of great rage as demonstrated by his reaction to discovering that Kurogiri is a Nomu created from the corpse of his late friend, Oboro Shirakumo and his confrontation with the man responsible, Kyudai Garaki. He further expressed grief and outrage over how the doctor's scientific gifts and knowledge could have helped humanity, but that he instead chose to use them for evil. Much later, he angrily punched the man for what he did to his friend.
As opposed to Shota, who is more sensitive and emotional when it comes to the grief of Oboro's death, Hizashi has surprisingly proven himself to be the more solemn and down to earth of the pair. He initially refused to believe that Oboro was Kurogiri, and following their meeting with him in Tartarus, Hizashi fell into a silent rage, saying that he would kill whoever was responsible. During the Final War, Hizashi was furious when Kurogiri warped him and Shota out to sea, shouting at Shota to forget about any hope of bringing their friend back and wanting the Nomu destroyed so that Oboro could finally rest in peace. However, Hizashi was shocked and brought to tears when it turned out that a part of Oboro still existed within Kurogiri, and by reaching him, helped all the Heroes regroup so that they could face All For One.
abilities.
Keen Intellect: Hizashi was the first of the teachers to point out the possibility of a traitor in UA, even stating his reasons for why this would be the case. His deduction proved to be correct after it is revealed that one of the students was the spy for All For One and leaked intel to him.
Bilingualism: Hizashi is an English teacher at a Japanese school, which implies that he is fluent in both languages.
quirk.
Voice (ヴォイス, Voisu?): Hizashi's Quirk allows him to increase the volume of his voice, giving him an ability that is similar to a sonic scream. The sound from Hizashi's Quirk is strong enough to cause people's ears to bleed from far away.
The only known weakness of this Quirk is that the loud sounds do not travel well underground, making this Quirk ineffective against anything that is underground or separated from him by layers of earth.
universe. ( 1 / 2 )
80% of people in the world possess a so-called "quirk"—a special ability that grants a certain advantage in battle. As a rule, it is unique to each user, and except for genetic transmission, it is not replicated. The remaining 20% without a quirk have no special abilities; in other words, they are ordinary people.
Heroes (ヒーロー, Hīrō) are people who use their quirks to protect civilians from villains or natural disasters. People who have chosen heroism as a profession are called professional heroes (プロヒーロー, Puro Hīrō).
Heroes began to appear among ordinary people after the birth of a glowing child. The size of their government-provided salary, fame, and glory depend on how successful they are in the heroic field.
There's a whole hero rating system. It's based on three components: popularity (approval of the hero's actions by civilians, merchandise, style), effectiveness (number of prevented crimes, list of victories and solved cases), and contribution to the heroic society. Hawk mentions that heroes ranked 20-30 get less work than the top ten and more free time. Each hero has their own hero nickname. Most heroes came up with their names back in school. A hero's name is considered extremely important for their career, as it's believed to bring ordinary people closer to the image they project and also reflects their true character. You can even take the name of an existing but currently inactive hero, but such a choice comes with great responsibility.
universe. ( 2 / 2 )
Villains are a general term for people with Quirks who commit crimes and endanger the lives of civilians.
Villains were originally people who chose to use their newfound abilities for their own benefit instead of others, unlike heroes. Currently, the crime rate is quite low due to the superior number of heroes guarding law and order.
UA Academy (雄英高校, Yūei Kōkō) is an academy where high school students are trained to become heroes. It is also one of the main locations featured in the heroes' story.
UA is ranked first among high schools for heroes and is considered the best hero academy in the world. Students are divided into specific departments and classes – A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, and K. At the entrance to the academy there is a security gate called the "UA Barrier," which automatically closes if a person trying to enter the academy does not have a student ID or special permission. Such measures were taken to prevent criminals or representatives of the press from entering the school premises.
