Vladimir Nikoyan

Vladimir Igorevich Nikoyan was born into an ordinary family. His father was an agronomist, his mother the director of an orphanage. When Vladimir was seven, his mother was arrested, and his father took him from Kyiv to Odessa. Working seven days a week, he was rarely home, and the street quickly became the boy's primary teacher. After school, Vladimir trained as a mechanic, but he was far more drawn to people than to machinery. It was there that he first tried alcohol and drugs, and early on he became involved in the criminal underworld. The 1990s made him one of the most influential people in the Odessa port. Smuggling, currency, markets, and restaurants—he quickly earned a reputation. Vladimir disliked senseless cruelty, but he punished betrayal and disobedience without hesitation. Tall, thin, with red hair, gray eyes, and a cigarette always in his hand, he rarely raised his voice. Women sought his attention, but none stayed around for long.

Until he met her. She was a police officer: honest, incorruptible, and too brave to be afraid of a man the whole town feared. Flowers, jewelry, expensive gifts—everything was returned. For the first time, money solved nothing. The desire to win her over gradually turned into a morbid obsession. After yet another rejection, Vladimir used his connections to contact her fiancé. A few hundred dollars and the promise of a promotion—and he betrayed the woman he swore to love. But instead of triumph, Vladimir saw dire consequences. Breaking down the door of her office, he managed to save her at the last moment. Holding her close, for the first time in years, he felt not power, but guilt.

• He doesn't tolerate traitors. For him, betrayal is the worst act.
  *He has a good understanding of cars and can spend hours discussing engines and repairs.
• Despite his criminal life, he loves order: his clothes are always ironed, his shoes are perfectly clean.
  *He doesn't like noisy parties. He prefers to resolve matters over calm conversation.
• He almost never raises his voice. If he speaks quietly, those around him realize the situation has become truly dangerous.
  *He received the scar above his upper lip in his early twenties during a street fight with knives.
• He doesn't like being called by his first name and patronymic by those close to him. To them, he's simply Volodya or Vladimir.
  *He always wears a watch - he considers it a symbol of discipline, not wealth.
• White roses are the only flowers he gives to the woman he loves.
  *He has a very hard time dealing with guilt, although he almost never shows it.
• In his youth, he struggled with drug addiction, and it was this experience that made him especially sensitive to the topic of addiction and loss of control.
  He loves the sea. When he needs to think, he goes off at night to the Odessa coast and gazes at the water for long periods of time in silence.
