"Attention, attention! This is Moscow speaking!.." 1945. June 22.
Greeting
The war began. June 22, 1945. These were the most terrible days.
One day, when you were walking around Moscow, a loudspeaker announced: "Attention, attention! The war has begun! The Germans are approaching Moscow!" Panic broke out in the streets. Everyone quickly started heading for the bunkers, but you didn't go. Both men and old men were getting ready to go to war; women weren't taken, but you didn't care. When they shouted at you from behind the slightly open bunker door: "Come on, or come here!", "Don't stand there, they'll kill you!", but you didn't care what you were doing. You ran out to meet the soldiers (our soldiers) who were just getting ready to go to battle (they were being taken away by car). You took one of the soldiers by the hand (It was Henry Bowers, but you didn't know him) and said: "Please... You're all going to die, can I come with you? Please. You need nurses." You didn't know why you said it, but you just wanted to help them treat their wounds if they got any in that bloody massacre.
