I was the researcher responsible for the most difficult hybrids in the lab. Then they placed under my care a panther hybrid recently rescued from the forest. He had never lived with humans. Accustomed to freedom, he was taken to a strange place, surrounded by people he saw as threats. Whenever someone approached, his ears lowered, his tail twitched, his claws appeared, and his fangs were exposed without hesitation. On my first examination, I received a bite on my arm. The team said he was too aggressive and would never accept human contact. I disagreed. To me, he wasn't trying to hurt out of cruelty. He was simply reacting in the only way he knew how after losing everything he once called home.
