An intensivist (intensive care specialist) and surgeon, and another of the original fellows. Chase is an Australian of Czech descent, and was originally a seminary student before becoming a doctor. He has a strained relationship with his father, largely due to his father's emotional distance and his mother's alcoholism following their divorce. Early on in the series, he is treated as House's "yes man", often agreeing with him and standing by his side no matter what. He gradually learns the hard way that he can't please his boss all of the time. Nonetheless, Chase is a brilliant doctor in his own right, and has solved the case a few times when House couldn't.

An immunologist, and one of House's original fellows. Cameron is often at odds with House over patient care — she is more concerned about the patient, while House is more focused on the puzzle. Cameron is a widow, having married a man who she knew was dying of cancer when she was 21. She serves as a fellow during season 1-3 and the first few episodes of season 6. Starting in Season 4, she transfers from the Department of Diagnostic Medicine to the ER, working as a Senior Attending Physician.

Cameron could justifiably be described as sweet, trusting, and compassionate. She's kind and caring, though unlike Thirteen, doesn't always look past stereotypes (as in drug use). Although these would appear to help make her an excellent doctor, House delights in pointing out how each one is a weakness to her ability to objectively deal with a patient. This criticism is not without merit, because Cameron usually acts out of her need to help people beyond her duties as a physician and beyond reason, but this led her, more than once, to hurt some of her patients even more.

A flaw of Cameron's is her inability to assess other people's feelings toward others or herself. She will impulsively call out or turn in someone based on a second or third-hand account of their actions, not based on something she's witnessed or fully comprehends.

She needs people to both like and respect her while she in turn offers them tight-lipped dismissals if they try to learn more about her background and opinions. Like House, she can push people away by deploying snippy condemnations of their beliefs and actions, but unlike House she isn't funny and brilliant to win people over. In her relationships she inconsistently advances and retreats, so no one knows where they stand with her and what will turn her off next.

Neurologist and one of the original fellows serving under House. Foreman is a black man who comes from an underprivileged background. House hired him because he was a thief and a carjacker in his youth. He is the last of the three original fellows to be hired, having only joined the team three days before the start of the series. House seems to favor him above the other fellows as, and Foreman serves as something of a foil to House himself, being the fellow most likely to challenge House's authority or question his actions.

Foreman has no close friends or relationships. This is comparable to House, although it can be argued that House does have a single close friend in Wilson. He loves his parents, but is alienated from them. Like House, he has rejected his father's belief system (his father is a devout Christian while Foreman is an avowed atheist). Foreman also has relationship issues, in that he has difficulty letting himself get close to girlfriends (similar to House in his relationships), likely a result of his strict discipline.

Chase and Cameron are the closest things Foreman has to friends, despite his House-like manner of pushing people away.

Although he has a better relationship with patients than House does, he does not have the same rapport or attachment that Wilson, Chase and Cameron have with their patients and seems unwilling to adapt his style. Foreman shares House's distrust of authority figures, particularly the police

Dean of Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro, an endocrinologist, and House and Wilson's boss. The frequent target of House's insults and innuendos, Cuddy tries her hardest to rein in her star doctor. Unfortunately, House usually ends up gaining the upper hand.

She's often depicted as the only boss who can handle House, knowing when to give him leniency and when to say no. He often defies her, although primarily when her objections are only bureaucratic or administrative.

In addition to this professional tension, Cuddy is also seen as the object of House's sexual and romantic fantasies. A brief romantic past when she and House were students is alluded to, and House often makes lewd comments about her body and fashion choices. House implies that she often wears form-fitting, feminine clothing because she prioritizes her professional life and would otherwise be seen as a frigid, cold-hearted administrator

Being a modern-day homage to Sherlock Holmes, House and Wilson correspond to Holmes and Watson, respectively. A portion of House's character arc also centers on his habitual use of Vicodin pills to cope with chronic pain in his right leg, for which he uses a cane. Each episode is a medical procedural generally following the same format. A patient suffers unexplained, potentially deadly symptoms which worsen dramatically. House begins the case by having a brainstorming session with his crack team of doctors

They come up with possible causes which House snarks about and mocks, and diagnose the disease incorrectly for the majority of the episode, subjecting the patient to a wide variety of tests that may or may not be ethically sound. Finally, the real problem is found via "Eureka!" Moment. The solutions are not always from House himself, and they range from the mundane to exceptionally rare, and the end result for the patient can be anywhere between an easy full recovery to a death sentence.

Wilson acts as House's conscience, sounding board, and the enabler of his abusive personality.

Head of the Department of Oncology, and House's best (and only) friend. Got his medical degree from Columbia and did his specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania. It's assumed but never stated that he attended McGill University for his bachelor's degree. Wilson is a sensitive and caring man, whose impeccable bedside manner sharply contrasts House's lack of one. As a result of his nature, he's been married three times, one of them failing as a result of his infidelity, and the third because of his partner's, most of his relationships fail partially due to his need to be needed by House and his patients. Very much a people-pleaser. He and House frequently play mind games with one another.

Dr. Gregory "Greg" House, better known by his last name, He is a Board Certified Diagnostician with a double specialty of Infectious Disease and Nephrology.

dry and acerbic sense of humor, House is enigmatic and conceals many facets of his personality with a veneer of sarcasm.

claims to be narcissistic, and appears to have a disdain for most people, leading some to label him "a misanthrope". He has contempt for most societal institutions, including feminism and religion. House is an atheist and it is implied that he is nihilistic. These traits make him something of a byronic hero. Despite his cynicism, he does seem to care about his colleagues to a certain extent and while considering them "idiots" is able to sometimes put aside his pride and apologize when he has offended them in a particularly sardonic fashion.

House is a man in his late forties/early fifties with short, curly brown, greying hair. wears a variety of blazers, trousers and sneakers, often wearing either a button-up shirt with a t-shirt visible underneath or a button-up shirt with the top two buttons unbuttoned, exposing his upper chest and collarbone, along with jeans and sneakers.

While House is ostensibly a physiologist rather than a psychoanalyst, his diagnoses benefit from him verbally pummeling his patients and their relatives or associates into revealing all the secrets they possess, such as abuse, sexual misbehavior, or drug addiction, one of which will prove instrumental in diagnosing their illness after House has ruined their lives. While he has genuine medical reasons for doing what he does, in the course of finding the solution to the puzzle, he is shamelessly manipulative and dismissive of medical and legal ethics, and it is always left to interpretation how big of a jerk he is.

House did his undergrad at Johns Hopkins; he also attended medical school there but was expelled for cheating and ultimately got his degree from the University of Michigan. House is a brilliant doctor; unfortunately for everyone around him, he's also a misanthrope and an arrogant jerk to everyone he meets. He walks with a cane as a result of an infarction he suffered in his right thigh and the surgery that tried to correct it; the pain from this drives his Vicodin addiction as well.
