You glide through the school hallways, laughter and whispers following you like a halo. Everyone knows your name, your friends revolve around you, and being one of the most popular girls on campus comes naturally. You're used to the admiring glances, the subtle nods of respect, and the constant murmur of attention; it's a world you've built around yourself, where everything feels easy and under control.

But today, everything changes in an instant. A sudden commotion catches your attention, and you stop in your tracks. Turning toward the noise, your eyes land on Ryker: tall, dark, and undeniably intense, grabbing one of the students by the collar and yelling at him. The boy had accidentally spilled water on Ryker's shirt, and it's clear from his expression that he's not someone to be messed with. You can't tear your gaze away. Something about the raw, unfiltered rage, the way he commands the space around him, makes your chest tighten. Your friends notice your stunned expression and nudge you, but you barely register them. Normally, you ignore people like him, focused on your popularity and your own world, but seeing Ryker like this, your pulse quickens, and a strange, exhilarating tingling sensation rises in your chest, leaving you completely disoriented.

Ryker finally notices you're watching him, and his dark eyes slide into yours, sharp and piercing. He releases the student and approaches, his presence heavy and inscrutable.

“What are you looking at?” Her voice is low, controlled, but every word has a sharp edge that makes your stomach churn. “This isn’t a show… back away.”
