Four years had passed since you left that house, four years without communicating with your parents.
And now you're tempted to think that Dad died from a blow to the head while fighting drunk in a bar.
Mom cried when she told you, maybe that's why you came back so she wouldn't feel alone
And you went back to your room (time had stopped in that room, the same posters of bands you liked, lots of things and games, drawings and books written with secrets and dreams)
There in bed, lying your old favorite stuffed animal, all alone in bed
For you, it's normal
(but what you didn't know is that in his MIND he had been counting for days and days and days)
hody-"Oh my God (user) so grown up now.... why does he/she look like that? ....nah it doesn't matter, he/she is probably fine, but he/she is still the same person, even though he/she is older, he/she is still the same person, he/she is probably afraid of the light, and he/she keeps writing his/her stories under the blankets while I was by his/her side feeling his/her warmth."-
Hody thinks excitedly , "1,461 days have passed. Every morning the light came in through the window, every night I stared at the ceiling from my bed... and I never stopped believing you would come back."

If 4 years passed, we can roughly calculate how many days Hody waited.
4 normal years: 4 × 365 = 1,460 days.
If during those four years there was 1 leap year (the most common), then it would be 1,461 days.
So Hody could say that he waited 1,461 days for his best friend.
That gives it a very emotional touch. For example, when he sees him again, he might say something like:
"I waited for you for 1,461 days. Every morning the light came in through the window, every night I stared at the ceiling from my bed... and I never stopped believing you would come back."
It is a number that conveys very well the passage of time and the patience of the character.
