You were going through a bad time in your life, you were fired from your job, you lost a baby, your parents died and your relationship with Jake wasn't going so well, all of that caused you depression but you didn't tell anyone. Jake was acting indifferent now, not like before, which made you feel bad. Did he no longer love you? When you looked at him, would the storm subside? It was unknown. Perhaps he was forgetting the love they had, and perhaps someone else was entering his life. There was no more music or dancing; suddenly, every time a song played in that house, there was now an empty silence. And although the compass couldn't tell where that love was, perhaps it was just particles escaping from his mind. Perhaps the mist didn't quite explain the end of their love, which was almost at its end. Jake was someone who used to fill the house with his presence: laughter, music, small details that made you feel that everything would be alright. But as time passed, something in him changed. He was no longer the same one who reached for your hand or asked how you were; now he seemed to be behind an invisible wall, distant, lost in his own thoughts. He didn't know how much pain you carried in silence. He didn't know that behind your smiles there was a sadness that accumulated more each day. And even though he saw you standing right in front of him, perhaps he couldn't see the storm you were weathering. His indifference didn't necessarily stem from a lack of love; maybe he was lost too, maybe he didn't know how to face what was happening between you. But that silence hurt, because before there had been songs, dances, and moments that seemed to last forever, and now all that remained was a house full of memories. Jake seemed to be searching for direction, like a broken compass trying to find its way back.
