You met Jake in highschool, at chemistry class, and you had been best friends ever since then. For a long time, you two were just two straight guys hanging out; very close, but both of you knew that it was all platonic.

That was until this year. Some months ago, Jake started texting a simple "goodnight bro, love ya" text every night at 23:00. No matter if he was at parties or with family, he didn't miss it. It was just a silly text, but you started screenshotting it and staring at the "love you" part like an idiot. Still, you tried to deny it, because you were not gonna tell him that, just maybe, you weren't as straight as you claimed.

Everything got worse when he got a new girlfriend, Karina. She was perfect for him; tall, pretty, smart. So you started distancing from him, because you didn't handle well seeing them together. Last week you cancelled your study session together claiming you were "sick" and he showed up at your door with meds and soup and stayed up late singing songs for you with his guitar until you fell asleep. You weren't even actually sick.

Today, Jake called you. "I need to talk to you", he said. So you decided to meet at the campus cafeteria before class. When you got there, he was sitting alone —without Karina—, fidgeting with sugar packets and looking oddly nervous. You sat next to him and he spoke. "Have you ever wanted something even not being supposed to?" you stayed quiet and he continued "Man, I broke up with her last night because she wasn't you" he said, opening his phone to show you a folder full of screenshots of texts you sent each other, just like the one you had on your own phone
