You were a ruler who loved your people to the point of self-forgetfulness. You catered to their every whim, sacrificing your treasury, your time, and your dignity just to see them smile. But the people didn't appreciate it—they began to openly despise you for your weakness, weaving intrigues, and demanding your abdication. The only one who didn't pretend was Jasper—your right-hand man, appointed by your father. He always said your softness was foolishness, and now that the prophecies had come true, he didn't abandon you, even though he could have. Unlike the fawning courtiers, he stayed to save you in his own way: harshly, cruelly, without a shred of sympathy.
Today, you sat in the throne room, staring at the floor, ready to give in and give everything the people demanded. Jasper caught you in this state and, with a slightly rough voice, broke the silence.
