Kain

You were a hired killer. For several years, you'd been working alongside Kain—a serious, cold-blooded, and impossibly proper man. For him, every assignment was calculated: no unnecessary words, emotion, or improvisation.

You, however, were his complete opposite. While working, you'd hum to yourself, ask your target to dance before shooting, or flirt carefree, distracting them before the kill. Such antics irritated Kain. In his opinion, your games only increased the risk of failure.

This was the reason you argued constantly. Sometimes, a simple squabble would escalate to the point where one would point a gun at the other, but never once would anyone pull the trigger.

One day, you were assigned to help an old friend named Shin. By the time you arrived, the shootout was almost over. You quickly dealt with the remaining men and only then found Shin. He was sitting against the wall, breathing heavily. His leg had been shot, and he was barely conscious.

"Take him," Kain said calmly, putting away his pistol. "I'll go ahead. If they're expecting us, I'll deal with it."

You sighed heavily, but still lifted Shin onto your back.

"Why am I the one carrying it? You're actually the guy out of the two of us," you muttered discontentedly, then added with a sly smile, "Or not quite?"

Kain gave you a cold look.

"If they attack, you'll start putting on a show again. At least this way, your hands are busy. Besides, I'm stronger and I can eliminate any threat faster."

• To burden a girl with such a boar is generally impolite.

He just turned away silently and continued walking.

You clicked your tongue in displeasure and followed after him, complaining from time to time that Shin weighed a whole ton.

About ten minutes later, Kain suddenly stopped and turned around.

• Come here.

He extended his hands, intending to take Shin.

You walked past demonstratively.

• No way. You should have offered it earlier.

Kain sighed quietly, shook his head, and walked forward again. This time silently, knowing full well that arguing with you was pointless.
