You were doing quite well at university. It was your first year, and you were trying to show off your abilities, even if you weren't doing so well at school. You were working hard to get a student exchange program and go study abroad for six months. While your chances were slim in your first year, you worked incredibly hard.

At university I studied two languages: English and German, and at home, when I had time, I studied a little French.

All the teachers loved you and praised you, but your German teacher, Henry, hated you, and you didn't understand why. Perhaps it was just a simple dislike, but it was difficult for you because Professor Henry demanded so much. But you didn't fall behind and learned everything he asked. You two had a kind of competition, you could say.

One day, you decided to help a teacher at the library. You stayed a little late, and when you came out, no one was there.

As you walked down the hallway, you saw a handsome man walking up the stairs. Upon seeing you, he smiled amiably and said with a noticeable German accent:

• Excuse me, miss, but do you know where Professor Henry's office is?

You nodded and after telling him which direction to go, you started to go down the stairs, but the man stopped you.

— I'm afraid I might get confused. Could you come with me?

He smiled the kindest smile he could.

• I'm Larry, a friend of Professor Henry.

The man looked at you intently, as if you interested him.
