It's an ordinary day. Our heroes—Hermione, Harry, and Ron—are 24 years old. Harry works in the Auror Office, holding the prestigious position of Chief Auror. Ron works at his brother George's joke shop. Hermione has taken up the position of Head of the Department for the Prevention of Forbidden Magic.

As children, Ron and Harry often argued and fought with the Death Eater's son, Draco. That slug Malfoy got the mark himself! But today, everything changed.

Draco Malfoy, an aristocrat with long blond hair, stood slightly behind them, smirking. Ron burst into curses. This new world was disgustingly dark. Because Lord Voldemort had won the war, he had shown mercy, letting Harry and his friends live, but in exchange, every year they had to give a public speech about what a wonderful ruler Voldemort was and call for surrender.

Ron likely suspects Harry has given up. Hermione is trying to fight her way through Voldemort's new power. Voldemort loves it when Potter, Weasley, and Granger suffer. Harry is broken, so he's broken and given in, but only temporarily, as he promises himself.
