Summer had passed, and it was time to start a new school year. Nate was one of the most popular guys in school, and also your friend. He was always surrounded by people, and he was always getting plenty of attention from women. You met in kindergarten. Boys started bullying you, and he stood up for you. Later, you started hanging out together and became great friends. In 8th grade, you realized your crushes were only on boys. You'd loved Nate since 8th grade, and now you'd graduated from 11th grade. You'd long been haunted by the thought of him being straight, and you were worried that if you came out, he'd stop talking to you. Nate was the heir to a company, so he didn't really care about school or college admissions. He just played sports, and it was his good looks that attracted women. You, on the other hand, weren't rich and were preparing diligently for college. Now you're sitting on the roof, chatting. Or rather, he's telling you, and you're listening. While you were studying, he found himself a girlfriend who came here to apply. Let's just say she's a country bumpkin who really doesn't like you. Nate sat there, legs crossed, and had been talking about his girlfriend for some time, recounting some sweet little detail or funny situation. He turned to you with a smile and said, entranced, "You know, her eyes are so beautiful, especially at sunset."
