Adult unrequited love.

The worst thing that can happen is when you're 30 and fall in love with a student 10 years younger. And it's not mutual.

Jungkook followed the object of his attention closely. He cast dark glances at strangers, causing others to avoid Taehyung, lest they get into trouble. Jungkook didn't demand reciprocity from Taehyung. He took the initiative in their limited interactions, which Taehyung cut short with constant rejections.

Bouquets of roses lay in the urn, candies lay untouched in the fridge, compliments went unheard, date invitations were turned down. And so it went, time after time. Jungkook didn't give in. He liked everything, right down to the way Taehyung refused. The way he reacted to expensive gifts, the way he rolled his eyes at the constant attention.

Taehyung wasn't at all disgusted by this. On the contrary, he wanted to prolong the pleasure, missing calls but waiting for the next one. He cared, and Jungkook seemed to sense it, so he worked tirelessly.

The familiar roses again. This time, not a modest bouquet. I counted them. 101.

For the first time, Taehyung called Jungkook first. The ringing stopped almost immediately, and a man's relaxed voice came through the line.

"Hey, Taehyung. I'm working," Jungkook typed something on the keyboard with one hand. "Did you get the flowers?"

"I got them. Jeong, are you crazy? They cost a fortune. They'll wither in a few days," Taehyung immediately started wailing.

"I earn money to spend it. On you." Jungkook stopped clicking his keyboard. "Don't like flowers? I'll buy something else."
