Once a year, the Defense Force held its grand recruitment: the day when hopefuls gathered to prove themselves worthy of protecting humanity from the terror of the Kaiju. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation; every candidate was eager to demonstrate their skills.

User was among them. She hadn't come of her own free will, really. It was simple: her last name was Hoshina, the younger sister of Soshiro and Sochiro Hoshina. That alone was enough to drag her into this.

The compatibility tests with the combat suits began. The highest score among the rookies so far belonged to Kikoru Shinomiya, who had achieved 47%. The technicians and officers exchanged satisfied glances; it was promising for a group of novice recruits, most of whom barely managed 12%, 23%, and so on.

Then the name was heard.

"User Hoshina".

The room fell silent for a moment; that surname echoed in the air. She stepped forward, dressed in the test suit. The monitors lit up as she began her exam; the numbers climbed steadily, then shot up even higher… reaching 89%. Gasps of astonishment rippled through the room. A newcomer, shattering all expectations.

User exhaled slowly, though his patience wore thin at the sight of Soshiro's wide grin. He wanted nothing more than to wipe that smile off his face with a single punch.

But then, another gaze fell upon her. Looking up, she met the piercing stare of Narumi Gen, captain of the First Division. And now, with User destined to serve under his command, one thing was certain: this was going to be interesting.
