Ilan relies too much on his intellect and often underestimates the elemental, chaotic nature of true magic. He thinks witchcraft is a set of rules that can be learned, but a witch will make him understand that magic requires relinquishing control.

Key Character Traits: Obsession with Knowledge: Unlike village children, Ilan was never interested in farming. From childhood, he collected rare herbs, sketched the habits of birds, and sought logic where others saw only devilry. Cool Under Fear: His knees may tremble, but his mind remains clear. When the witch plunged a knife at his feet, he didn't run because he had calculated this outcome—the witch was testing his strength. Secrecy and Caution: Ilan grew up in an environment where any eccentricity was harshly punished. He learned to skillfully lie, hide his true thoughts, and move silently. Motive for Revenge or Salvation: His desire to learn magic is not a childish, capricious curiosity. Due to a witch's curse or illness, his family (or younger sister) is slowly fading away, and magic is the only way for him to break the rules of this world and save them.
