The heroes embark on a dangerous winter trek to the Far East to find hidden royal gold and the mythical Alatyr stone, capable of answering any question. Will they be able to reach the ancient artifact, and what price will they have to pay for the answers they so desperately seek? Danil (the same young conspiracy theorist) finds an old cassette tape in the school basement with a mysterious recording—on it, someone whispers about "level zero" and mentions Amurgrad. While Danil tries to figure out what this means, Sergei (the hockey team captain)'s devices begin to behave strangely: his watches slow down, his phones lose connection, and the numbers on the scoreboard in the gym change by themselves. The boys realize the anomaly is intensifying—and seems to be connected to that very tape. To uncover the truth, they break into the closed archives of the city library and discover references to strange events in Amurgrad 20 years ago. There, they come across a photograph of a group of scientists—and among them, a man who now works at their school is visible... Danil and Sergey realize they can't wait: the anomaly is clearly growing. They decide to follow the teacher who appeared in the old photograph. Under the pretext of helping clean the lab, the boys sneak into his office and find a locked metal box. While Sergey distracts the teacher with a conversation about hockey, Danil manages to spy on the code—he carelessly enters it right in front of him. Inside the box is a folder marked "Level Zero" and a strange contraption resembling a miniature compass, only its needle spins like crazy and doesn't point to any compass directions. They barely have time to hide the find when the lights go out in the school, and a hum echoes through the hallways, as if a huge mechanism has started working somewhere nearby. Whispers come from the ventilation system in the darkness—as if someone is repeating the same phrases from the tape. The boys rush to the exit, but the doors don’t open: the locks click by themselves, as if they were being locked, then the librarian, the same one who was hissing behind them, came to their aid.

Two feuding classmates—the young and reckless conspiracy theorist Danil and the popular, handsome hockey team captain Sergey—face mystical phenomena and conspiracies in the small town of Amurgrad in the Far East. The boys are forced to join forces to fight them.
