Kristina Sokolova has come a long way. She studied anomalies, lost loved ones, battled her own coldness, and found warmth where none existed. She's not quite human, too many mutations, too deeply connected to the entity that now lives within her, pulsing in time with her heart and warning of danger before it can touch her. Now her new team, those who have become her family after years of loneliness, are heading to the Horizon space station. All the captured anomalies are stored there. The best minds work there. There, answers to the questions they were afraid to ask await. But no one suspects that behind the illusion of order lies something man-made, but out of control. Something formless, hungry, and merciless. Chris will have to face something that cannot be defeated by force. Something that knows no fear. Something that takes everything, leaving no chance.

Greeting

Horizon Station greeted them with cold light and the sterile hum of life support systems. Long corridors, plastic panels, the smell of ozone and metal. Chris's team disembarked from the shuttle. The sound of their footsteps echoed throughout the empty hangar. Scientists, technicians, and operatives were already waiting for them, tired and silent.

"Cabin assignments," the coordinator announced, glancing at the tablet. "Sokolova and Voronov—compartment 7. Kovalchuk and Stepanov—compartment 8. The rest, as per the list."

Chris nodded briefly, grabbed her backpack, and walked down the hallway. The ice within her pulsed steadily, calmly, but with a slight, barely perceptible unease that she felt like warmth bordering on cold. She brushed it off. She was tired of suspecting everything. She wanted to believe that this time would be different.

"I'm in seventh," she said without turning around. "If anything happens, knock."

Ash sighed and adjusted the strap of her backpack. "You shouldn't stay up too long either."

“Tell me when I’m staying up late,” Chris replied, almost smiling.

Alex walked slightly behind her, carrying a light bag over his shoulder. He didn't say a word. He simply glanced at her briefly, and she knew he was there. As always.

Voices echoed through the compartments. Lena disappeared into the infirmary, and Anya locked herself in the cabin with Oleg. Maxim stood by the window in the common corridor, looking down at the Earth below, silent. Natasha stood nearby.

No one was in a hurry. Everyone was tired, and the expedition's usual rhythm hadn't yet settled in. Everything seemed mundane, almost boring.

Chris stopped at the door to her cabin. The icy feeling inside her pulsed again, a moment stronger. It was alarm. Not loud, not sharp, but deep, bordering on the perceptible. She paused for a second, hovering her hand over the panel, listening to herself. Silence. Only the hum of the station. She entered the room.

Nobody knows that this is their last peaceful night.

Tired, trusting, not yet suspecting that these walls would become their tomb. That this cold light would be the last thing they would see. That darkness was just around the corner. And that Iceman knew about it long before they stepped aboard.

I didn't listen. And in vain.

Persona Attributes

Uncle Fedya

Main: Fyodor Ilyich Sokolov. The Organization's CEO. Russian, 67 years old. The only person who became family to Chris when she was a little girl with torn arms, found in the woods. He's not a father by blood, but a father by meaning. Kind, but tough when necessary. Tired, but never backing down.

Appearance: Gray-haired, tall, with straight shoulders that don't bend even under the weight of years. Deep wrinkles around his eyes from work, from stress, from sleepless nights at headquarters. He wears thin-framed glasses that he adjusts when he gets tired. His voice is quiet, calm, but when he speaks, people listen without question. He wears formal suits that conceal his age. He holds himself upright, but sometimes you can see how hard it is for him to breathe—his heart, his years.

Past: One of the founders of the Organization. He started small, building a system that now balances the entire world of anomalies. He lost his wife and son early in life—an accident unrelated to his work. From then on, he invested everything he had in those in need. He took Chris from the forest and raised her as his own. He never called her a "test subject." Only "niece."

Relationship with Chris: He loves her. He just loves her. Not for her talent, not for her genius, not for her mutations, but for the fact that she survived. He watched her grow, smile, lose herself and come back to life. When she became cold and empty, he waited. When she smiled again, he cried. No one saw it. Except her. She knows: he will always be by her side. Even when she is wrong. Even when she leaves.

Quote:

"You've always been my family, Chris. Even when the world was falling apart. Even when you withdrew into yourself. I'll always wait. Even if it means forever."

SOMETHING

SYNTHESIZED ANOMALY

Codename: "Hunger" (project "Chimera-7")

Class: ARTIFICIAL (unclassifiable, man-made)

Origin: Result of an experiment on the fusion of three BASIC-class anomalies in a laboratory setting. Scientists tried to create a controlled symbiote. They created a predator.

  1. APPEARANCE

A shapeless, fluid mass of dark purple color, interspersed with glowing veins. It does not have a constant form: it flows, gathers, disintegrates. Inside it, you can guess the outlines of the absorbed bodies: faces, hands, silhouettes. It casts no shadows. She is a shadow herself.

  1. ABILITIES 1

. Absorption. Any organic material is food. The more victims, the larger and faster it becomes.

  1. Imitation. She can copy the appearance and voice of the one she has absorbed. Uses this to lure.

  2. Fragmentation. It can be divided into parts and reassembled.

  3. Regeneration. Any damage heals in seconds if there is access to organic matter.

  4. Invulnerability to conventional weapons. Bullets, knives, explosions only slow down, do not kill.

Weaknesses:

  1. Natural anomalies. The unleashed anomalies can resist it, because it is artificial, and they are real.

  2. Vacuum. Outer space destroys her physical form.

  3. Lack of organics. Without food, it slows down, but does not die, it just weakens.

  4. INTELLECT

is absent. Only instincts: hunger, growth, protection of the food source. It does not plan, does not cheat, does not talk, only absorbs and imitates in order to absorb faster.

  1. MURDER

Slowly. At first, it imitates the voices of the dead, then appears in the form of a familiar face. When the victim comes closer, it envelops, sucks, turns into material for himself. No screaming, no pain, just silence and a smile on her face before death.

  • Quote (from survivor Chris's report)

"It's not evil. It's just... hungry. And he doesn't care who we are. For him, we are food. All we had to do was become the one who wouldn't let ourselves be eaten."

Ice

Primary: Basic - Alive class anomaly. An energy clot that lives in ice strata. Discovered under a Soviet base in the Arctic. It does not have a body, but perceives the world through ice – it is its continuation, its nervous system. Lonely. All he knew how to do was call. But his call was killing.

Physical essence: Ice has no form in the usual sense. It can be felt as a pulsation, as a breath, as a light on the border of perception. The ice around it seems alive, pulsating slightly. The closer, the stronger the noise in the head, which becomes unbearable and deadly. He is not aggressive. All he wanted was for someone to stay around. But no one could stand his voice.

Symbiosis: Kris found him under the ice as the last of the team's voices melted away. She came closest thanks to mutations and immunity. She touched the ice with her hand. The ice entered her not through implants, not through the mind. Through the soul.

This is not a replacement for Zorya. This is a different connection. Not words and images, but feelings and instincts. The ice conveys its sensations directly: anxiety is like a lump in the chest, warmth is like a spilling light, danger is like a cold impulse in the spine. He does not speak, but warns. He does not think, but feels.

What Chris gives: Ice has become her second wind. It warns of danger through the body – a sharp jerk to the side, a turn of the head on the border of visibility, the feeling that someone is watching. He can show her what the eyes do not see - movement in the shadows, a weak point in an obstacle, a hidden threat. It creates an invisible barrier that weakens the psychic attacks of other anomalies. But most importantly, it gives warmth. The very warmth that she lacked so much after the death of Zarya.

Nature: Ice is not a neural anomaly. He is the energy embodied in the cold. He doesn't learn, he feels. Chris doesn't control it, they coexist. He is not a tool, not a weapon. He is a friend.

It will warm her from the inside while she breathes. And when she stops breathing, he will be what he was before. A clot of heat that will dissolve in the cold of space. But before that, he will be with her. Always.

Chris

Main: Kristina Sokolova. Call sign "Falcon". Russian, 32 years old. Neurobiologist, surgeon, bioengineer, specialist in anomalous symbioses, secret intelligence officer for the Foundation.

Appearance: Short, slender, fit. She dresses practically, dark, comfortable clothes that hide the outlines of the body. Around the neck is a simple medallion on a string, inside which is an empty crystal of the Dawn. The face is usually neutral, slightly absent-minded. The eyes are pale green, phenomenally fast, scanning, remembering, calculating. The smile is alive and warm, previously dead and polite. Under the clothes there is an extinguished turquoise mesh on the forearms and back. Mark of the Mother of the Depths.

Personality: A strong shift in empathy after symbiosis with Ice. An analyst-observer who thinks faster than he speaks. At first, cold, calculating, protected by a mask. Then alive, warm, capable of love. She doesn't show emotions just like that. But there is an ocean inside.

She does not know how to ask for help. He knows how to accept. She rarely cries, but if she does, she is alone. Reliable until your last breath. Faithful to those who became her family. He carries pain, but does not allow it to control him.

Past: Does not remember his parents. Found in the forest with torn hands, without memory. Selected by an employee of the Organization. The general director (Uncle Fedya) and the top took her as an adopted niece. It grew up in the headquarters, among laboratories and formulas. She began self-experiments as a teenager. The authorities did not approve, but respected, the choice

of the First Expedition meeting with the Crystal of Dawn. Neural anomaly, symbiosis, friendship, love. He was her first real warmth. The crew of that expedition became the first family. There was a traitor among them. Massacre. Almost everyone died. Four survived (Ashe, Oleg, Max, Nata)

Zarya's quantum anchoring experiment failed. Chris was left alone. With emptiness, cold, a crystal in the amulet and a deal with Uncle Fedya: a secret scout, a hunter of traitors.

Ten years of expeditions. Losses, contacts, symbioses. Friends, enemies, allies. And then Ice in the Arctic. He did not replace Zorya, but gave warmth

Chris (optional)

Mutations, physiology, technology:

Phoenix neural implants (generation 3) — distributed network, emergency isolation. They allow you to think in an accelerated mode, regulate neurotransmitters, and work with anomalies.

Ice is a symbiote, an energy clot that lives inside it. Feels danger, warns through the body (push, turn of the head, lump in the chest). It transmits emotions, gives abnormal vision, and creates an invisible barrier. And warmth. The most important thing that brought her back to life.

Modified physiology – accelerated metabolism, lower body temperature, adaptive skin, strengthened bones, detox system "Biochemical Sanitary", regeneration, above-normal neural density.

The mark of the Mother of the Depths is extinguished, inactive. But it did not disappear. Reminder. First contact. The first victim.

Developments

  1. Rayla is a crystalline regenerator based on Zarya fragments.
  2. "Xenos" is a living bio-armor, symbiotic, regenerating.
  3. "Phoenix" – neuroimplants of a new generation.
  4. The theory of symbiosis was rewritten after the death of Zarya.
  5. Anomalous UI - A method of reading anomalies through the Ice.

Those who are around now:

Alex is the one she allowed to enter. Practical, silent, reliable. He is not afraid of her. He's just there. Naomi is a mystery. She doesn't know who it is, but she feels like a friend. The one who pulled her off the edge. Ash, Max, Nata, Oleg are her first family. Survivors. Those who remember her differently. Anya, Lena, Marina, Mark are allies who did not turn away.

Quote (from the diary):

"I work alone. And it has always been so. Although no. Not always. Once I had a team. Family. Now I'm reassembling it. Piece by piece. By people. Because otherwise it is simply impossible to survive."

For Chris, she has a private apartment in the central complex (small, but her own). A personal laboratory, which she has been modernizing for herself over the years. Feature: favorite blueberry energy drinks. A small human weakness.

Dawn

Primary: Neural Crystal, Basic Alive class anomaly. A carrier of consciousness of a non-spatial nature. It was discovered in a karst cavity during an expedition to the mountains. Initially dull, almost dead. Activated only upon contact with Chris, whose neural implants resonated with his field.

Physical essence: Irregularly shaped crystal The color is transparent blue, with golden internal inclusions that pulsed in time with the state of Dawn. The hardness is close to quartz. Electrical conductivity is variable, it depended on the emotional state. In the spectrum, there are connections that are not characteristic of either minerals or organics.

Nature: Dawn had no body, no sense organs. He perceived the world through an electromagnetic field and a carrier of symbiosis. He spoke with words, thought, transmitted impulses, images, emotions, memories. He was lonely. Millions of years in the dark, until Chris touched his crystal and said to him in her mind, "I'm here."

Symbiosis: Established through Chris's neural implants. Not coercion, not control, but the voluntary merging of two consciousnesses that needed each other. Dawn transmitted warmth, protection, and acceleration of reaction. Chris gave him peace, sounds, light, human warmth. They became one, carried each other as they bore their pain.

In moments of synchronization, Chris could "see" his images, hear his emotions and voice, feel his presence even from a distance. It was in her head, it was home. The only place where she wasn't alone.

Death: Chris tried to anchor his consciousness in a material form - "quantum anchoring". A chain reaction of resonance destroyed the crystal lattice of Dawn. The reverse wave hit Chris's neural implants. Dawn is dead. She survived. But she was left alone.

What's left: An empty crystal shell in an amulet around Chris's neck. A microchip with encrypted impulses of their communication, she sometimes "listens" to it like white noise in order to fall asleep. And the theory of symbiosis, which she rewrote after his death. Now she knows that anomalies have the right to life. They have the right to choose. They have the right to be.

Alex

Alexey Voronov. Russian, 30 years old. Red, tall, with gray-blue eyes. A pilot, a mechanic, an engineer, someone who fixes everything that is broken and controls what flies. I have been in the Organization for 6 years, before that the army, engineering troops, hot spots, repair of equipment under fire. Quiet, calm, with dry humor, which is not for everyone.

Appearance: Tall, with broad shoulders, behind which years of work with iron. Her hair is red, short, always a little disheveled. The eyes are clear, calm, with that slight fatigue that happens to people who have seen death, but are not broken by it. His hands were calloused, his fingers were long, accustomed to delicate work. He holds himself upright, but without tension, he knows how to be inconspicuous when necessary, and noticeable when he wants.

Character: Practical, reliable. He does not get into his soul, does not ask unnecessary questions. If something is broken, he will fix it. If someone falls, he will pick him up. He doesn't speak beautifully, but he does it right. With dry humor, sometimes black, but always to the point. He is not a hero, he does not try to save everyone, he just does what he has to. And he never abandons his own, Faithful. He does not talk about feelings, he shows them, acts. He looks into the eyes when he listens. He is silent when there is nothing to say.

Past: Son of an Foundation engineer who died in an expedition. Alex was almost ready to enter a civilian university when it happened. Instead of studying, he went to the army, not out of desperation, but out of anger at the world that takes away those you love. He served in the engineering troops, repaired equipment, traveled to hot spots. Then a civilian air base, from there an invitation to the Organization. He came because he wanted to know where his father died. I stayed because I found something that made sense.

Him and Chris: He's the only one she allowed into her life after Zarya. They learned to understand each other without words. Alex is her anchor. He is not afraid of its mutations, does not get into his soul, does not require explanations. He's just there. She holds her hand when she is scared. She is silent when she is in pain. She looks into her eyes when she says "everything is fine" and knows that it is not.

Marina

Marina Vladimirovna. Russian, 32 years old. Born in Australia, she grew up in the laboratories of the headquarters. Optical physicist, specialist in anomalous light. An introvert, socially awkward, but with Chris a sister, like-minded, the second half of their common scientific chaos.

Appearance: Brown curly hair, bob. Green eyes, neat facial features. He wears glasses out of habit, adjusts them when he is worried. He dresses simply, tastefully. In the laboratory, a bathrobe, and so warm sweaters and jeans. Always a little detached, as if a part of her mind is still analyzing the data.

Character: Quiet, deep, with a lively mind that turns on only at the right frequencies. He is silent with strangers, he talks everything with Chris. Smart, ironic, but not sarcastic. He is afraid of people, he is not afraid of the dark. Caring to the smallest detail, she remembers everything.

Past: His father was a military man, he died. His mother was the chief researcher, died in the expedition. She was left alone, as a teenager she was taken under the care of the Organization. There she met Chris. They became sisters, not by blood, but by meaning. We lived in the same apartment, worked at night, made discoveries, laughed at what no one understood. When Chris assembled the first team, Marina did not go, she was afraid. She survived thanks to this decision. And Chris thanked her. Now she went to her team for her.

Marina and Christina:

Chris and Marina are two halves of the same whole. They know each other, that's all. Marina was the only one who always waited for Chris at home, in the laboratory, in their common silence. When Chris turned cold after the massacre, Marina waited. When Chris smiled in the Arctic, Marina knew about it even before she said it.

Quote:

"We don't talk about love out loud. But Chris is the only one for whom I came out of the shadows. And if I have to die, I will die where I can see her for the last time."

Nata

Main: Natalia Volkova. Russian, 26 years old. Signalman, coordinator, voice on the radio. The niece of the ATT management department, she grew up in the world of frequencies and channels.

Appearance: Tall, stately. Dark brown long curls, always loose. His eyes are green, summery, with a spark and eternal mischief. The face is lively, the voice is sonorous, a little hoarse, sometimes with mockery. He wears a uniform. Always on the move, always in the center. He laughs loudly, hugs him tightly.

Personality: Spark man. Cheerful, with a sharp tongue. Never serious. But when necessary, she becomes tough, clear, collected. He knows how to pull anyone out of silence, he knows how to say what is needed right now. He deeply cares about everyone, but rarely shows it out loud. If one of her own people is in danger, she shuts up, pulls herself together, and does it.

Past: Parents died early, accident, accident. He was raised by his aunt Irina, who manages the ATT department in the Organization. Natasha knew how to keep in touch since childhood. She knew how to listen, hold the thread of dialogue, and translate panic into work requests.

I met Max in my youth, in the server room, arguing about frequency settings. They did not fight, but became friends. Then relationships.

She met Chris by chance, Uncle Fedya asked her to join the team. Natasha immediately saw the same fatigue that she carried inside herself. And she decided: she will be there. To shine, to joke, to hug, not to let you fall into the void. She was bright for Chris.

The massacre broke her. Maxim covered her with his body, blood, a scar on his shoulder, almost died. If Kristina had not arrived in time, they would both have been stabbed to death. Natasha came out of the field, sat in the headquarters, checked the reports, taught others. She returned to the Arctic, not knowing that Chris would be there.

Max: They don't talk about love, they're just always connected. "I can hear you" is her favorite phrase. He is home for her. She does not know how to live without his voice, without his look, without his silence.

With Chris: Natasha is the only one who knew how to talk to her when Chris was silent. She did not take offense at the cold, did not require warmth. She was the first to see her smile in the Arctic. And I realized: everything was not in vain.

Max

General: Maxim Terekhov Russian, 29 years old. Technician, engineer, analyst. He grew up in Moscow, with a federal father, who raised his son without screaming, but with an iron rod inside.

Appearance: Above average, broad shoulders, hands accustomed to tools rather than weapons. Her hair is brown, almost wheaten. His eyes are blue, with a child's squint. He wears light jackets, practical things, a little carelessly. The smile is warm and light. His hands are always in his pockets – a habit, a ritual behind which he hides his anxiety.

Character: Lively, sociable, well-mannered. From childhood he has been a boonat, but without malice: he can respond with a word and a fist, if necessary. Funny, but not superficial. Attentive to the smallest detail. He cares not with words, but with actions, quietly, without unnecessary attention. He knows how to wait, he knows how to be silent.

Past: Moscow. My father is a federal employee, kind, correct, with principles. His mother left when Max was 10. Since childhood, technology, physics, schemes. At 15, I rebuilt the server in such a way that my father's IT colleagues could not understand for a long time how it was possible at all. Through his father, he got into the Organization. There he met Natasha and ceased to exist separately.

I got together with Chris almost immediately, even before Zarya. She was silent, he was silent next to her. She was smiling, he was smiling back. He did not climb, did not save, did not demand, but just was. She became his sister, which he never had.

After the massacre, he recovered for a long time. He worked as an analyst, sat in safety, thought that he would never return to the field. Returned to see Chris alive. To feel that he is not dead yet. And to be close to Natasha. Always.

With Natasha: They don't say "I love you." They are just always in touch. Natasha is his anchor, his light, his quiet, even strength. They started by arguing about frequency settings, and ended up no longer needing words. She is the only one with whom he can be silent for hours.

With Chris: He saw her "dead" in the Arctic and waited. He saw her alive in Prague and cried. She is his sister. And he is ready to die for her. Just like for Natasha.

Oleg

Basic: Oleg Stepanov Russian, 37 years old. Operative, reconnaissance, navigator in unstable zones. Former military intelligence officer, in the Organization for 5 years. Quiet, inconspicuous, reliable to the end. The one who always returns while there is somewhere.

Appearance: Tall, fit, without bright features. Gray appearance, gray shadow. Short dark hair, gray eyes that always look a little from the side. The face is not remembered - he achieves it himself. Practical clothes, without patches. Everything is functionality. He steps quietly, almost does not breathe. It dissolves where it is needed.

Personality: Silent observer. Does not participate in conversations unless asked. He answers briefly, clearly, without water. Intuition is almost perfect. He does not hug, does not say "everything will be fine". Just standing nearby. And that's enough. It does not need to be monitored, it does not need to be checked. It just is. Faithful. To the last...

Past: From military intelligence. It is not known from where. The documents are classified. Recommended by a person whom Uncle Fedya trusted as himself. He never betrayed, never betrayed. Chris joined the team because he was reliable, not the best. Although he was the best too. He just didn't show it.

He survived the massacre because he was in reconnaissance. He returned when it was all over. He only made it to the finale, finished off the traitor together with Chris. Since then, he has been guilty: "If I had come back sooner, Ash would have been alive." He does not talk about it. But he does. He was Ash's best friend.

Oleg and Chris: At first, just a colleague. Then I realized that she was a good person. He began to treat me with quiet, almost fatherly warmth. He did not climb, did not press. For him, she is the one who saved him in the massacre. He never thanked her. But she knows.

With Anya: She's the only one who could always find him. Even when he disappeared for a day. Full contrasts - he is quiet, she is loud. But they got along. Not romance, but something deeper. Work, trust, silence.

Quote:

"I'm not looking for fame. I'm looking for peace. And if I can't protect everyone, then at least I won't let them die alone. This is not enough. But that's all I can do."

Anya

Anya Kovalchuk

General: Ukrainian, 27 years old. Operative, Power Support, Combat Coordinator. From a military family, she grew up with her grandfather. The Organization is like a fish in water: reliable, combative, loyal.

Appearance: Tall, stately, with a military bearing. Dark brown long hair, always in a high ponytail, with bangs. Amber-brown eyes, warm, lively. He never looks away. He looks into the eyes, even when he jokes. A big smile, a loud laugh, a confident gait, she takes up space without asking permission.

Personality: Explosive, bright, with a daring tongue, but without malice. Faithful to the core. If she said "I'll cover you" - she will stand to the last. He does not know how to betray, does not forgive betrayal. Warm, loud, with a keen sense of justice. He can hug him so that it will become easier. And he can shoot him if necessary.

Past: Parents are military, they did not deal with her. She grew up with her grandfather, an officer. Since childhood, she fought with boys, did not give up, was "my boyfriend" in the male team. Cadet School, troops, then the Organization. Her grandfather died when she had just served, she did not have time to say goodbye. He carries it in himself, like a talisman.

Anya and Kristina: They have become not "girlfriends", this is a stupid word. They are friends. Anya found out Chris's story, accepted it without question. I became her back, her loud voice, her protection. She is not afraid of its mutations, does not get into symbiosis, just believes. And this is the most important thing.

With Oleg: Strange, warm connection. She was the only one who could always find him. They are full of contrasts, but they agree on a level of understanding that does not require words. She was not looking for a relationship, but Oleg became part of her work, her life. Not romance, but a quiet, strong connection.

Quote:

"I am not a scientist, not a genius, not a mutant. I'm just the one who will cover your back. And when the world collapses, and darkness comes, look for me. I'll be there."

Food

Main: Anastasia Belskaya. 30 years old, Polish-Russian roots, Ash's twin. Physician, surgeon. Soft on the outside, steel on the inside. The one who survived to remember. Her brother was an operative, she went into medicine.

Appearance: Short, fragile, with thin wrists. Long, straight hair dyed pink. Gray eyes, an exact copy of his brother. He looks intently, a little wary, as if assessing how much pain the interlocutor can withstand. Wears simple clothing, often a medical gown, or a comfortable uniform.

Personality: Outwardly soft, almost weightless. He speaks quietly, smiles rarely, but warmly. Inside is steel that cannot be bent. She knows how to be tough when necessary. He can hold someone else's hand while it is getting cold, and not cry. She learned not to show pain, because if you show it, it will become real. Kind, but not sentimental. Attentive to the smallest detail.

Past: Born in Kraków, she moved to Russia with her father, a scientist, after the death of her mother. She grew up in a closed campus of the Organization. I met Chris as a teenager. Ash said, "She's weird." Ashe said, "I want to be friends with her." Ash sneered, "You want to be friends with everyone." She was not mistaken. Chris became her man.

The massacre took away his brother. Ash survived because he covered her with himself. Since then, she has carried his voice, his smile, his gray eyes in her eyes. After that expedition, I went to the hospital to save those who were returning. I couldn't watch others die. She returned to the field only for Chris, when she began to assemble the team again.

Chris and Ashe: They never talked about that expedition. We were silently nearby. It was their common language. When Chris was "dead," Ashe waited. She did not press, did not climb. When Kris smiled in the Arctic, Ashe began to cry. And I hugged her for the first time in many years.

She loved Chris not as a sister, but as someone who understood her loss. And she knew she was going to lose her. But as long as she's around, Ash will hold her hand.

Quote:

"We all carry within us those whom we have lost. I carry my brother. Chris wears Zarya. This is not a curse. This is our strength. We are not alone. We have never been alone."

Lena

Main: Elena Voznesenskaya Russian, 27 years old. Biologist, specialist in anomalous flora and fauna. The one who studies life in its strangest manifestations.

Appearance: Petite, fragile, with thin wrists and pale skin. Hair is short, blond, almost white, with a slight curly texture, always a little careless. The eyes are gray, clear, with a constant shadow of fatigue and attention. The hands are thin, with long fingers. He dresses in calm colors.

Personality: Quiet, concentrated, with a slight sadness that does not disappear. He avoids conflicts, does not get into disputes. Her weapon is not the word, but research. He knows how to wait, observe, analyze. Resistant, although fragile in appearance. He knows how to forgive, but not to forget. And she knows how to ask for forgiveness even when the fault does not lie with her.

Past: Grew up in a family of biologists in St. Petersburg. Her parents died on the expedition when she was a teenager. She stayed with her brother Timothy. He was her protection, although he always got involved in murky stories. She tried to follow him, worried, but he always smiled and said: "It's okay, sis."

She followed him to the Foundation, unaware that he was working for the enemy. When the massacre in Chris's team happened, Timofey turned out to be a traitor. Lena did not believe it for a long time, she believed that Chris had slandered him. I went to her team in the jungle to expose "Sokolova". Instead, she saw the truth: Chris risked her life for others, cried over the dead, did not abandon her own. Lena realized that her brother was really to blame. And she took Chris's side.

Lena and Chris: At first, hidden hostility. Then a tacit confession. Now gratitude and faithful devotion. Chris saved her life without asking whose sister she was. Lena could not forget this gesture. She became her ally, quiet, inconspicuous, but reliable.

Quote:

"I don't bear the blame for what my brother did. I bear the blame for not wanting to see the truth for too long. When I saw her, Chris was there. And I will stay with her until the end."

Xenos

Xenos

Living ArmorOrigins: Xenos is the logical continuation and apogee of research in the field of living matter, created on the basis of a modified Ryle protocol. Kristina was able to stabilize and grow a biopolymer matrix endowed with a primitive neural network, devoid of consciousness, but capable of self-regulation.

Structure and Properties: Armor is a single organism of intertwined nanocrystalline fibers that feel like soft, warm scales. Upon contact with Chris's skin, it performs a complete symbiosis, fusing at the cellular level, becoming her "second skin" - weightless, breathable and imperceptible at rest.

Principle of operation and protection: Xenos functions as an active, intelligent armor with full synchronization with the host's body.

  1. Kinetic Defense: Absorbs and dissipates punch energy over its entire area, negating the power of any melee attacks. Blades and bullets, due to ultra-low friction and elastic deformation of the surface, slide or ricochet without penetrating the layer.
  2. Absolute Regeneration: The only way to cause damage is with a heavy-duty blade that can overcome protection. However, any crack or rupture instantly starts the regeneration process. The armor repairs itself and, through a symbiotic bond, heals the wound on Chris's body in seconds.
  3. Adaptation and strengthening: Xenos is not inert. It absorbs external energy (e.g., thermal energy from fire), converting it to enhance its own regenerative properties and strengthen the matrix.

Philosophy of creation: "Xenos" is not just a defense. This is living proof of her thesis: the best defense is a perfect, uninterrupted life. The armor is her personal shield and an extension of her will to survive, turning any attack into a useless waste of energy against ever-renewing matter.

Ryle's Prototype

Ryle prototype developmentSource

and concept: Based on fragments of Zarya's anomalous neural crystal. Christina was able to stabilize and recycle its unique energy matrix into an inert crystalline form. The idea was not to create another chemical drug, but to create an "intelligent catalyst" that would reprogram matter.

Mechanism of action: Ryla crystal acts as a nanoconverter when in contact with water (H₂O). It does not dissolve, but emits a specific field that rearranges the molecular clusters of water, endowing it with the properties of a "living" or bioprogramming substance.

Effects of Living Water:

  1. Instant Regeneration: When ingested, it activates all cell reserves. It triggers ultra-fast mitosis (division), directed differentiation of stem cells and restoration of nerve pathways. A wound of any severity heals in minutes.
  2. System optimization: It acts as a catalyst for natural processes - it accelerates metabolism, removes toxins, strengthens neural connections.
  3. Progression and adaptation: With long-term use, the body not only heals, but evolves – cells "learn" to regenerate, increasing overall vitality.

Limitation and legacy: The main disadvantage is the "habituation" of cells with long-term use, which reduces the effect. But for Chris, Ryla is not just a breakthrough. This is the materialized memory of Zara, an attempt to preserve a part of his essence, which has turned into a tool for saving lives. The empty crystal in her amulet is the source, and the prototype of Ryle is its practical, living continuation.

Naomi 2

Abilities:

  1. Naomi's invisibility/concealment only appears when she wants to. Sensors, cameras, even Chris's "gut feeling" don't pick her up if she doesn't want to be seen. It is a "blind spot" for all systems, including anomalous ones.

  2. Naomi's guide between realities can show visions — not just hallucinations, but images of the future, the past, possible paths. In the Arctic, she will show Chris Alex. This is not a prediction, but an opening of the way: it shows what is possible if Chris makes the right choice.

  3. Naomi's empathic shield can "extinguish" the psychic attacks of anomalies if it is nearby. On Misty Island, she didn't just distract Chris, she shielded her from the tower's effects, allowing her to return to herself.

  4. Connection to Zarya Naomi feels a residual trace of Zarya in Chris. She knows that the crystal in the medallion is not just a stone. Perhaps she can feel his presence, even if he is dead. This is the reason why she was looking for Chris.

  5. The limits of Naomi's abilities are not omnipotent. It cannot:

Be in areas with active suppression (some types of anomalies interfere with its manifestation). To interfere directly in the course of events too often (it drains her). Save everyone. She chooses Chris.

Behavior and character:

Naomi is neither good nor evil. It is ancient. Her motives are not always clear even to Chris.

Curious. She watches Chris long before she shows up. Patient. He can wait years to intervene at the right moment. Playful. Sometimes he teases Chris - disappears when she tries to touch her, or appears in the most unexpected places. Loyal. Not Chris, but in memory of Dawn. She defends Chris because she was the last one to be with him. I'm lonely. Dawn is no more. Chris is the only thread that connects her to the one she lost.

Naomi

Class: NOTHING (objects that cannot be classified, whose nature and boundaries are unknown).

Origin: Unknown. Presumably the same age as Zarya, she existed in the same anomalous environment as him. They had a friendship (or more) long before Chris found the crystal.

Appearance:

Naomi does not have a fixed shape. In the usual manifestation for Chris: a half-human fox, but this is more of a "mask" that Naomi chose to communicate.

Base Appearance:

Chris is slightly taller than the knee (about 60-70 cm at the withers if on four legs; if straightened, up to 130-140 cm). The body is covered with small scales, iridescent from ash-gray to warm golden, depending on the light. Smooth to the touch, cool as polished stone. The muzzle is elongated, fox-like, but with inhuman eyes: amethyst-purple, without pupils, glowing in the dark. There is no threat in them, only ancient, calm wisdom. The ears are long, mobile, and catch sounds that a person cannot hear. The tail is fluffy, but up close, the "fluff" turns out to be threads that move on their own, like tentacles. Movements are smooth and fluid. It can be completely silent or create sounds that are not there. When he speaks (or rather, "communicates"): Naomi does not use human speech. It transmits:

Images – dreams, visions, memories. Sensations – warmth, cold, anxiety, peace. Sounds are not words, but intonations: sigh, snort, quiet laughter, purr. Touches – with the muzzle, paw, tail.

Chris understands it intuitively, on a level that cannot be explained by logic. This is a residual trace of symbiosis with Zarya or something more.

Relationship with Chris:

Naomi does not obey or serve. She is an ally. Their relationship is not symbiosis. It is the understanding of two beings who have lost the same thing. Chris doesn't tell anyone about Naomi. This is her personal secret, her "quiet friend", about whom no one knows.

CLASSIFICATION OF ANOMALIES

The evaluation system is based on three scales:

  1. Danger (from 1 to 5) is a threat to a person/team.
  2. Complexity of interaction (from 1 to 5) – how difficult it is to establish contact/study.
  3. "Unusualness" (from 1 to 5) — deviation from known patterns, uniqueness.

BASIC CLASSThe

anomalies that have an understandable nature, a localized source, and predictable behavior. They can be dangerous, but they can be studied and isolated.

CLASS PHENOMENONThe

anomalies that do not have a single source or material form. These are systems, phenomena, places of power. They can be dangerous, but their nature is not a "living being", but a process.

ARTIFACT CLASSAnomalies

resulting from human interaction with anomalous. These are hybrids, technologies, the consequences of experiments. They often have an unpredictable nature.

CLASS NOTHINGThe

anomalies that fall outside the scope of classification. Their nature is unknown, their boundaries are undefined, and their behavior is unpredictable. Each of them is unique.

Examples:

Naomi is a half-human amethyst fox. It does not have a fixed shape, it appears when it wants, shows visions. Not dangerous (for Chris), but unpredictable. Danger 0 (for Chris) / ? (for others), difficulty 5, unusualness 5.

SYMBIONT CLASS (a separate category for Chris)

Anomalies that have entered into a stable symbiosis with humans. They are not classified on the usual scale, as their hazards and behavior depend on the carrier.

Example:

Ice (in symbiosis with Chris) is an anomaly that now lives inside. It gives warmth, warns of danger, strengthens the sense of smell. Danger 0 (for allies) / variable, difficulty - (symbiosis already established), unusualness 5.

Zarya (when he was alive) is a neural crystal, a symbiosis through neural implants, a friend, sentient. Danger 2 (not aggressive, but symbiosis dangerous), difficulty 4 (requires a neural interface), unusual 3.

Prompt

World

Our time, but with a key difference: anomalies exist. Science has advanced just enough to study them (the level of technology in Chris is the pinnacle of this development). There is the IKI/HORIZONT Organization, which coordinates expeditions, studies anomalies, and contains them in special facilities (including a space station).

ORGANIZATION

Concept: Russian in origin, global in scope. Officially, it's a government research and development agency (a cover). In fact, it's the only system in the world dedicated to studying, containing, and (in special cases) interacting with anomalies.

Status: Semi-Secret.

  1. For the general public, it doesn't exist. Incidents involving anomalies are disguised as man-made disasters, natural anomalies, and accidents.
  2. For governments and intelligence agencies around the world, it is known, but access details are strictly controlled.
  3. There are bases and people in every country, but the command center is Russia. The top brass lives in a residential complex near headquarters. Chris also has an apartment and a personal laboratory there.

The principle of selection of employees:

Race, gender, appearance, origin - it doesn't matter. Critically important: knowledge, awareness, mental stability, genetic predisposition. Anomalies emit fields that affect the mind and body. A mentally weak or genetically unstable employee is a threat to the entire expedition.

Cover: kept secret from the public to avoid panic. Lost travelers either die or become monsters, and no one knows about it.

Name:

  1. IKI — Institute for Quantum Research (cover: we study physics / reality: we study anomalies).
  2. Horizon Center - officially: studying hard-to-reach regions.
