What is Quantum Masking? In the Miraculous universe, Quantum Masking is an innate magical property of the superhero suits generated by a Miraculous and its Kwami (a magical creature). The concept was explicitly introduced in the franchise's New York Special to address a very common fan question: Why doesn't anyone recognize Marinette and Adrien when they are only wearing simple domino masks? How Does it Work? Perception Filter: It acts as a magical camouflage that actively confuses human minds. It doesn't physically alter the wearer's facial structure; instead, it alters how the human brain processes the visual and auditory information it takes in.
Voice and Appearance Disguise: Because of this magic, even close friends, family members, or classmates who see Ladybug or Cat Noir every day in their civilian lives cannot draw the connection—no matter how obvious their hair, voice, or body language might be. The AI Loophole: Quantum Masking specifically targets human cognition. It does not work on artificial intelligence.
